I'll ask Leo. If there was to be a second A9X it'd have to be a UC though wouldn't it as LX was finishing production as A9X's were on sale? Hard to see it being a "series 2" though, it'd just be a UC A9X, no different to XU1 or XX7 carrying across successive Series.

I'll send Leo an email and ask him. I don't see how a second run of A9X could be a LX. UC production had already started in late 1977, ready for volume production early in 1978. A9X's were still being built in November 1977 and some completed in 12/77. GMH Xmas shutdown started around 20th December and didn't startup fully again until the next year. Sure LX's were still being completed into 2/78 but I imagine there would still be A9X's available for sale at that time.
I'm interested in the statement about them being too similar to SS and SL/R too. The cars are worlds apart in looks with the flares, spoilers, 14" wheels etc.

This one.
That was exactly my thoughts as well. I suspect they were talking about this car in the article.

Photo taken at the National Motor Museum in Birdwood SA I think...
right you are Craig. and Adam.....we visited that museum back in about 1985?...and took some state of the art pics.....not.
Also a good example of how pics can be deceiving....depending on how the pic, of a pic is taken.
This pic below is just a pic taken this morning with a Samsung phone and flash....somehow changed the colour of the car ( I didnt edit the pic at all, except to reduce the size for posting on here)......
OR
...is it really the long lost 2nd UC A9X2 test mule???
same pic...no flash

I believe the A9X is back at GMH Port Melbourne, i could be wrong. The Photo is at the Birdwood Museum.
Now does the Birdswood Museum own it now or is it on Loan to them from GMH ????????

Over the years,I had seen several pics of hot/rare Toranas at the Birdwood museum. So on my 1st ever visit to Adelaide around April this year, I couldn't wait to get up there for a visit.
To my dismay however, I found there wasn't one Torana on display. I asked at the counter on the way out and was told that the Torrys they have had in the past, had all been on loan from various sources. :-( :-( :-(
Oh well, still plenty of cool things to see there.

The GTR-X and Leo's A9X are both at Port Melbourne. The GTR-X was displayed in the entry/gift shop when I was there last year, and the A9X was hidden away with their private collection.

Was at Holden HQ 2 weeks ago. No GTR-X or A9X out front or hidden out the back, nowhere to be seen. Shame!

Pics of Leo's A9X in Torana Tough and at Birdwood show that it did not have the brake air ducts fitted, or did Leo's car have a different front spoiler.

Pics of Leo's A9X in Torana Tough and at Birdwood show that it did not have the bron the original LH slrke air ducts fitted, or did Leo's car have a different front spoiler.
pete
leo,s car ran with the standard LX slr5000 /SS spoiler
so no brake ducts as per A9X as the spoiler was not the correct shape to accomodate the brake ducts
the A9X ran the same plastic front spoiler from factory as the L34
that was the same plastic item that was standard factory fitment on the LH slr5000
all but
the ends were sliced off to accomodate the flares
A9X got btake duct,s L34 didn,t
