What a shame. I know it is little consolation, but at least it is only a HQ Holden ute (unless it is a HQ Sandman - hope not!). Imagine if it was a HQ GTS350 coupe or an LH-LX SLR5000 or SS 5.0L or something like that? Doesn't help with all the hours and $ spent though and the grief of seeing it burn to the ground. Glad they are all OK and no major injuries.

I'd be devastated too at the loss of vehicle but no insurance is added steelcap to the balls kind of hurt.

Thats terrible. How can a tailshaft twist like that? Would it be a fault in the shaft or the wrong size for the engine? Crazy stuff.

Either way, no insurance is terribly silly.
I may stand alone with this, but I'm sick and tired of everything getting a fundraiser on social media. People need to deal with their own losses

this little exchange ( edited for brevity) from that same public discussion probably sums up both sides....
Dennis- To the father and son sorry for the loss to your pride and joy it looks nice from what I see in the photo is so people in this group come on let's help please Paul was look at the photo of the car on fire I would want that happened to my pride and joy so let's help out and make a nice should gesture for 2017 for them
Dennis - Oh and if you do see a bad, comment can you remove for it me and you doing a good job three admin,s have a good New Year for everyone in the group 2017
Louis - Shit ! Poor buggers , as long as they are ok that's the main thing, you can always replace the car
Ian - Was it insured and if not y?????
Stephen -No insurance mate and all the wannabe dogooders want everyone to chip in for them to fix it. It's a joke. I know it wasn't them that personally set up the gofundme page but seriously if you drive a car on a public road without any insurance esp a car with so much value well it's tough luck if something happens. The upside to all this is that no one was killed.

Where else did he cut corners on the build?
My car is unregistered atm so no cruising. Its fully insured tho.
So should i run the same mentality and cancel my insurance and use that cash to pay for the rego so i can cruise it? Then if something happens ask for go fund me help?
I think they should be happy no one was seriously injured and call it what it was. A life lesson and do the Australian 5hing and man upto their own mistakes. Can the go fund me idea.
My car sat at home cos i couldn't register it and insure it. So it just sat there insured instead til i cover the xmas bills etc and get spare $$$

Well said BuiltA9X , I can say I DONT do Facecrap and I don't come across they Go Fund Me situation . Its not compulsory to give . Its about the inner person you are and if your able to spare a dollar . My fiancé does fund raising for Pony Rescue in Mexico and we live in Adelaide . My front yard is full of freaks talking horses and I don't like it , But she does and it makes her smile . Some people feel good doing a good deed and other people are doing the pass it on thing . Im not donating as insurance thing stops me . I hope they raise the funds and drive insured next time .

I give regularly to many.
But helping a random bloke rebuild a car that he was silly enough to not insure (money to build it but no money to insure? I'd be waiting till I could)
That's taking money from other places that probably deserve it more.
I feel sorry for the guy, 100% sucks and in glad tey got out of it ok.
We dont know their financial situation, could be rolling in it. Some poor bloke could be struggling to scrape coin together for his build but is putting his heart into it, and yet no go fund me there

No hate here Bulllit......just discussing mate....like I said, may even help ém out, just after the back story thats all.
All good.
I think we all feel ultra sorry for them...I'd be shattered if it happened to me.
And humbled if others assisted me to recover.
