So the owners of this ute deserved what they got because they had no insurance for the ute ?

But it was insured to be legal on road right ?, but something went horribly wrong only to have a young bloke in hopital with burns and

him and his ol man to lose a project just to add insult to injury.

So how does it work ? , pay the legals for CTP to be on road legally then something goes wrong and "we" blame the bloke/s for

no insurance ? .............frok off ......question the experts who passed the vehicle in the first place ?

The typical ozzy way these days ?

What experts?
He passed it himself.

Its SA. No need for yearly inspections.
Pay the rego fee and its on the road.
Car doesn't need inspecting unless it gets defected or if the owner decides to have it engineered cert.

Otherwise like many idiots just drop what ever you like into the car and drive it until shit hits the fan. (Accident or defect)

So no it wasn't insured to be on the road as you stated.
And no one to blame about what happened but themselves. So stop pointing fingers at other people.

The fireand injury is a downright c#nt of a thing to happen to anyone.
And like most Aussies out there would be willing to gather around to assist in helping out with covering hospital costs etc.

But. Like a true Aussie, most cant see the reason to have to help pay for someone elses mistake of not getting insurance.
Its not like insurance is a secret thing that car owners don't know about.
Its the risk you take by not reaching into your own pocket to begin with and getting insurance.

And to say - "yes but some insurance companies wont cover a modified vehicle....."
Well thats a crap excuse.
Because we all know of Shannons. Its there business insuring modified vehicles.

And if they refused to insure the vehicle due to some of the mods not being legal.
Well then the car shouldn't be on the road.

Its 2017 (was 2016) to take have your pride and joy uninsured and take it out cruising is just down right stupid.
It puts yourself and other road users at risk.
If you cant afford insurance. Well dont drive it. Dont put your ego ahead of other road users.
Imagine if the tailshaft shot out and impaled a passenger through the windscreen of another vehicle travelling behind?
Would we be jumping onto go fund me to help rebuild the car then?

Can the go fund me for replacing or rebuilding the car.
And maybe start one for "Help cover some hospital bills...." instead?
May get a few more onboard??

Hopefully all recover well.
And that many out there learn from this tragic event, and make sure they have their cars insured with full comprehensive insurance from now on.
Even when its just in the shed. (Shannons do laid up cover) - think a few others do something similar too.

Going back a bit...I'm with 8 ball and Kiwi. If you drive without insurance you are irresponsible and deserve what you get. Get off your high horse Bullit, Australia is not going to shit because the responsible people choose not to help the irresponsible. Thank God third party personal insurance is mandatory so that our wives and kids are covered against these retards.

No high horse here dickhead obviously you don't have a frOcking clue about the old way of aussies so i couldn't give a frOck what you think......

I had a LC GTR many years ago. Cost me $2300 and insurance was about half that for comprehensive. Usual story for a young fella....not enough money. Had it fully insured for the first year but only third party after that. Of cause it was stolen, stripped and burnt. My fault so just copped it. cheers

That's it!

I know lots of folks who've had thir pride and joy knicked and not insured.

Nobody have them money to help out. You're mistake, your responsibility to fix it.

Haha, thanks Bullit, good argument. Really? Because I don't think it's my responsibility to pay for someone else's mistakes I don't have a clue? Or because I want my family protected from others? That's funny. Well it would be if it weren't serious.
And it goes without saying that I feel for those guys because of their injuries. That bit sucks.
Thanks also for the insight about self-assessing roadworthiness 8Ball. Interesting. We will talk about how a road worthy vehicle driven within the law twists a tail shaft like that in good time I suspect.

I don't think anyone is saying they deserve what they got.
That be a right c#nt act to say something like that to anyone (including anyone you may not like)

No one wishes for someones car/to burn to the ground and for them to get injured.
Its pretty unAustralian to kick a fella when they're down.

But it's also unAustralian to stickya hand in ya pocket and help someone out when they've done a moronic act. May aswell just throw ya hard earned cash in the bin.

If the car was fully insured, and they weren't driving like a dick (not saying if they were or weren't) and the insurance company said - "nah bugger ya, you're on your own"
Well id say most would be willing to throw a bit in the hat.

What he said.
Bullit, geez this is tiresome. In general, in your earlier posts, you are bagging people for not helping. I don't give a fat rat's crack if you want to help but don't judge those that choose not to. For some reason you think your opinion is worth more than that of others. That is not true.

I have followed this thread with interest, does anyone here know 100% that the ute wasn't insured ? The reason I ask is that if you read the statement (written by the sister) on the go fund page there is a sentence which says "This incident was not covered by insurance".

What does that mean ?

Did the ute have no insurance or if it did was an insurance claim denied ?

As an example, if you look at Shannons Insurance Product Disclaimer Statement (PDS) there are multiple reasons why they can reject a claim, here arejust a few:

Mechanical, structural, electrical or electronic breakdown, failure or malfunction.

An intentional or reckless act by you or by a person acting with your consent.

Faulty repairs or faulty workmanship, other than repairs covered under Shannons Lifetime Guarantee.

Your vehicle being used by any person who is not a listed driver, if your certificate shows that your policy is restricted to listed driver(s) only, unless your vehicle was stolen by a person who was not a listed driver.

Your vehicle being driven by or in the control of a driver:
• under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and the alcohol or drugs contributed to the accident,
• whose breath or blood alcohol level was above the legal limit in the state or territory where the accident occurred, or
• who refused to take a legal test for alcohol or drugs,
unless your vehicle was stolen by that person.

Just my thoughts, as I have no first hand knowledge other than what I have read online. And yes, I do feel sorry for the Father & Son.

There's no second prize mate (Bullit, cos V6 jumped in there while I was writing). If you're as wise as you say you are then you'll know what that means.
But yeah let's just disagree cos this is taking me away from a Jag that doesn't run day after day all by itself and an RX7 rebuild that won't occur by magic.

I guess they should count themselves fortunate that no 3rd party was involved? Surely there injuries would be covered under TAC or equivalent for that state?

Don't know why everyone's getting their knickers in a knot.

If we all had the same opinion, life would be boring, don't take it personal.

Truth is, none of us know the full story.

The evidence presented suggested some sort of dickheadedness was involved but it could just be bad luck.

I think the complaints about helping were more to do with the fact that so many people are starting go fund me pages for stupid stuff lately.

I'm sure 99% of people here would help the guys out if given half a chance.

Reckon this is all pretty simple...
These poor buggers apparently got burnt and the car is a gonner.
Someone said they had no insurance.
Someone else started a Fundraiser.

Think about it....
You built a car
You took it out for a squirt.
Shit happened.
Apparently you didnt have insurance.Dumb.
You got burnt.Aweful.
Thus you had a pretty bad day.
A friend or someone started a fundraiser on your behalf.
Simples

I was alive when Brock won his first Bathurst...

I was 14, my first experience of grog the night before. Laid on mum's couch Bathurst day and watched my first Bathurst from start to finish.
