Rockoz ,

Forum member flyagainxu1 had a strike me pink car that SUPPOSEDLY had factory installed v8 exhaust brackets down the back end of said car .

You guys that read these Drawings said they were Proper Engineering Drawings, yet they are Card Code Drawings where Add ons can be made, you did not know that, so EXC could be EXChange as well, it's Card Code not official Engineering Drawings that you say you dealt with :)

Rockoz ,

Forum member flyagainxu1 had a strike me pink car that SUPPOSEDLY had factory installed v8 exhaust brackets down the back end of said car .

The brackets on Flyxu1 SMP XU1 were aftermarket brackets for a twin system, the XW7 road going car had the XU1 muffler.

no no no no no.

If it was a part to be exchanged it would have been in a format I have described before

1234 EXC XW7

1235 XW7

That way there is no ambiguity.

There is a standard that applies to drawings.

These days it is actually detailed as an AUstralian Standard.

Back then they would have used the same annotations for all drawings so there would be no dramas interpreting anything.

It has been explained to you by different people from different backgrounds who all have the same conclusion

There are also standard words I could use for you in this instance.

But I dont want to join Skap.

Im so totally lost with this thread, and I almost need someone to explain to me very basically what on earth is going on.

But from all my readings of my GMH Parts Manuals, predominately LH, it frequently uses the term "exc" in reference to excluding the L34 from certain P/N's. On the next line underneath, dedicated L34 P/N's are then allocated to the previously excluded part. I see the same used in the LJ parts manual for XU1.

Am I missing something here?

Al, it was you that said you had the Full Set of XW7 Engineer Drawings.  Remember, they were given to you by an Ex Engineer that worked on the program, and gave you ALL the engineering drawings ?? ......

All you have showed us is 2  portions of drawings.  One drawn in 1968, the other drawn 1970 ...   That's a fair way short of Jun. 1972 .

I also showed you an amended and revised GM-H Technical drawing, that shows just how GM-H identify a revision to their drawings ..

I stand by my opinion though. The numbers prove your GTR was at experimental engineering but the numbers do not prove any more than that.

A question for you both Dave and Al. Does HHS have records of any other LJ GTR's (I guess 4/72 Adelaide build)) at experimental at this time? Personally, I couldn't care about rat traps and subframes, and any other things that could be changed over the years. If the ADR tag was fixed to that body, and the car is from the Adelaide plant, then the numbers on the back of the ADR tag tell the story.

Al,

Here is the LJ Parts Manual list for the Inlet valves......in YOUR terms "Exchange" has no meaning, however as "Exclude" it makes for 100% understanding.

Please drop it, your wrong on the "EXC" meaning, regardless how stupid you want to portray your Holden Engineer's right to write how he feels.

Its only ever been "Exclude" ever since I can remember at the Holden dealer as a young whipper snapper hanging over the counter reading his parts book.

Al

With all due respects to you, your refusal to accept that you are wrong when you have been shown evidence, had it explained to you multiple times, means that any information you have provided would have to be put to increased scrutiny.

You arent doing your cause any favours by not accepting the truth.

You have provided lots of information that has debatable reliability.

It has been said before that no one was out to say you were wrong about your car.

All that was asked was clarified and reliable information that could stand the test.

You have failed that with the drawings.

Wishing it to be will never make it be.

You may well have a unique piece of Australian Motoring history as you claim.

But you have made it difficult for me to believe anything you claim.

I hope you do have what you think you have.

But you just havent provided the proof.

And realistically you have had less scrutiny than a lot of people claiming to have XU-1s.

Do some more homework and research.

It is up to you to prove beyond a doubt what you have.

You were the one that called them engineering drawings back in your deleted V8 Prorotype thread.

I seen Card Code under the Drawing, Chaos there you go no wonder the Pencilling In Hapened :) It's still a Revision by a GMH Engineer, part number for that XW7 Clutch Pedal is there for a reason :)

Yep it's for the export LJ with the Opel 4cyl and MC6 Transmission. :)

there used to be a thread about the V8 Xu1 prototype as I recall.....but I think it was scrubbed...so at the risk of a stoning...

Youse can only use small stones anyway...çause essentially, this thread is about the same thing anyway.

This just popped up on F/B ( credit to Lynden C Maxfield‎Old Car Yard Photographs - Australia)

They are 'Instruction Drawings' not Card Code Drawings.

The cards those codes reference are another animal again.

That is a Brisbane Built LJ GTR, nothing to do with me. Maybe XGTR on the Forum might be your man here as his GTR is Brisbane Built.

My GTR is Adelaide Built :)
