Chaos

Remember Pre-Production Cars are Different to the Final Road going car that is built from the Engineering List, Like  GT 001 that Larry mentioned is different to the road going GT that was made, Perfect Example.

Now where i am not wrong on it, i will explain

The XW7 Engineer said that they EXC the 6 Cyl Clutch Pedal and 6 Cyl Rat Trap

then they EXC the XW7 Clutch Pedal and the 6 Cyl Modified Rat Trap that they did Due to Components were breaking, Due to the 308 in the LJ GTR's had a Heavy Duty Clutch and Pressure Plate that Harry wanted in the GTR's, so then they made up a Hybrid HT/HG rat trap to fit in the GTR's, Now this Rat Trap was under test at the Proving Ground (That is why its called the Proving Ground).

There was ment to be a Revision Drawing done for this, but they had not done it at that stage due to more testing was needed, and then the Program was Stopped by Bill Gibbs and the Revision was never done

He also said if you look in the XW7 Parts List the Heavy Duty Clutch and Heavy Duty Pressure Plate was left out and the Clutch Pedal and Rat Trap, these were left out Due there was going to be a Revision on them as they were under test.

Revisions can be Added just before production and during production and after production.

The Engineers name and contact details or ^^^^^ is just psychobabble.

The parts you talk about would have been tortured and proven on test rigs at the Holden Tech Centre for days on end before they would have had any chance of seeing any action at Lang Lang.

Laz, I was told Santa was real too .................   But when I asked for proof, I got told,  if I persist with the questions, no more presents...  So I stopped asking questions....   But they never really proved Santa was real either ...

Guess your Parents never knew of the Real Santa ?????? Saint Nicholas. There was a Santa :)

Larry owns a HDT LC XU1 Torana (Saggy Sarah) and he has spoke to all the Players of the Day about Saggy and they have told him what they ran in the day. Larry's good friend owned 24C HDT LJ XU1 as well, so i think he would have a big handle on what went on from speaking to them Players at HDT.

Dave D

You went and seen Ben that Runs HHS, and Ben has told me what HE TOLD YOU.

So you know what MY GTR was, as Ben explained to you what it was, One of the Three LJ GTR's that Holden Experimental Engineering put the 308 V8's in.

You only took notes and do not have any of the XW7 Drawings or XW7 Engineering Parts List at all. As Ben would not let you have a Copy of them, Ben got the XW7 Drawings from me, the XW7 Engineer that gave them to me does not want them Public at all and i respect his wishes.

I will not tell you who the XW7 Engineer is ever, He must be real cause how did i get the XW7 Stuff, or Did Saint Nicholas drop them off at Xmas time :)

What about the selection of drawings published in Torana Tough? Did you disrespect his wishes when you gave Norm those drawings to include in the book?

From what i know about it, engineering hack, mule and prototype sum up what it was?

How can it be a "Protype"??? ...............

NOUN
  1. a first or preliminary version of a device or vehicle from which other forms are developed:
"the firm is testing a prototype of the weapon"

Engineering hack, most likely ...

Just my guess on things..  If Holden were building 3 V8 LJ Torana's .....  My guess would be that 2 would have been developed as race car's for their debut at Bathurst.  The other one would have been developed as a road version..  Not saying i'm right, or even that I have a clue, but it does kind of make sense to me...

And again only my guess,  but when the V8 LJ program was dropped, Holden engineering would have unbolted the whole front end assembly (and all the v8 modifications) engine and all as one item.   And then refitted a complete 6 cylinder front end motor and all.  It is the easiest and quickest way to do it...

That is why Al may or may not have any of the modifications that were engineered into his car at Holden ...    Just guessing, so no need for any tantrums ...

The three of them would have been engineering hacks. One had duel fuel fillers. Doesn't make any of them a lesser car to what they are.

Allan says two of them had the twin fillers, the orange car and the pink car but only the orange car had the 36gal fuel tank.

This is a prototype ....  Not some 3 year old Torana coupe with a hacked out gearbox hole, and hammed down suspension lips .......

I noticed in that clip it was spoken a lot by Aussies and they referred to the car as a 4 door coupe.

There was no revised clutch pedal. The normal LJ 6cyl clutch pedal and clutch actuating mechanism is what the V8 LJ was going to use.

The only Engineering aspect that was not fully engineered at the time of the programs cancellation was the fuel system. The tank was designed and fillers had been fitted to the three prototypes quarters but the bits between the fillers and tank was missing.
