All,

Just wondering if anyone has used these in repair on their sills?

http://www.rarespare...product=2808232

Looks like it includes the top of the outer sill (bottom door frame) that the old sill section didn't include. Anyone able to confirm?

http://www.rarespare...8232&brand=RARE

Thanks

I haven't used them but you are correct those panels do include the bottom section of the A pillar and the nose of the sill that the front guard sits over.

I believe they are made by that Muscle car parts mob that make the other repro panels for the LC/LJ models.

Thanks for the response Dave,

I mean does it have the top of the sill section where it joins the inner sill as per the below picture?

I assume it does looking at the bit sticking up at the other end to the a pillar bottom

Thanks for responses all. Hmm no endcap, the complex bit. If not might save the $300 and keep hacking away.

Endcap is that's what mine needs more than the sill panel.

Wanted to go look at them in person before buying but Muscle Car Parts being out of stock has killed the idea for now.

I remember reading something (probably in Marty's thread) about the original sills getting slightly wider at the rear than the front along the bottom of the door frame,

gtrboyy, hit up your local Rare Spares. I have managed to get a hold of one, they have told me it has the end cap. Will confirm when I pick it up.

I went to the Roxburgh Park Rare Spares store, the outer sill they had in stock had no end cap. Had to make one from scratch.

Cool, will probably hit em' up next week.

Is it worth changing whole sill when it's mainly the endcap & less than foot of sill panel damaged?

Nar..i wouldnt.. unless it is heavily pittied
from inside.before you cut new sill to
length.do some measurements to see if the
line on new sill matches up with the original
one.I had one 5mm out..

I try to make that will look like abortion haha

Happy to do 90% of the grunt shitwork then get mate to finish it off so it turns out nice.

This is only car I get nervous about for sentimental reasons.

Should have update this thread, RHS has the endcap, fits perfect except for back of the A pillar, the folded edge is a little to far in but easy enough to rectify.

Will be getting the LHS as well as I have even less to work with on that side.

Nice work Chris. Did you hang the door to check the gaps before you welded the new sill on?

I have used these many times and find them great, the only thing is when they made them they should of added an extra 10 mm to the end closes the rear quarter were they are lead wiped as they come up a tad short,,, and mate has S pack said I hope you used door for bottom gap.

Cheers gong

It's been a wile

Yes i did hang the door and had to moved the sill down 2 mm at the front to line them up (that's why the welds look so bad) will clean up some more second time around.

I all so think they could be 10 mm longer at the rear end

but very happy with the sill, it matched my profile front and back
