Hi All,

The organising for Toranafest 2017 is in full swing!!

The dates for this years event is the 16/17 September 2017.

This years event is being located at Maitland Park (not the showground) as it is a much bigger and better area!

We have been working hard with the Maitland Council and they are very supportive of the event.

We hope to post information this week with regards to Accomodation, etc.

Look forward to seeing you there.

The HVTC is working with other motels in the Maitland area, and will have accommodation info for everyone soon.

Gez,

Gene is right, if Wadey turns up (like he did in 2014) then this time he goes to sleep, compliments of a text-book sleeper hold (think of 'the chicken' administered by the character Roscoe Rules in Joseph Wambah's 'Choirboys').

And I figure why not run a raffle (all proceeds to a registered charity) because I know, without any doubt, that folks will queue up to deliver or willingly pay to at least witness such a 'sleepy ride' that for Wadey to succumb to should he make an appearance...

'Wadey' is warned, best that you have a word with him Gez...

Cheers, TB

No motor farm? :(

G'day All

As far as accommodation is concerned, not only do we need a large motel like the usual Fest Motel which I think by my fading memory is about 80 rooms, but one that will also do a better deal as far as PRICE goes

I did not need a room at the motel used by the Canberra Torana Club for the Nationals last year as my sister lives in Canberra and that was one of the reasons I was able to attend that event so basically what I am saying, is that any motel which is large enough to accommodate a lot of us Torana nutters for such a well known event like Toranafest, SHOULD be able to offer a cut -rate or discount for filling their bloody motel up

Just my 2-bobs worth on accommodation and the prices charged previously

RegardSS ....Barry

As we know the Motto farm has some negatives

but , i still feel its the best so far.

parking your car in front of your room is such a big bonus, so is having a drink and in front of your room and saying hello to fellow colleagues passing by...

i think makes a great atmosphere and good times

Totally agree Tony BUT maybe a better deal with the Farm could be worked out as we do book the place out and I would think that this does not happen all that often with an 80 room motel

Hi Toranafest Tragics!!

Well as you all know we are busy with the initial stages of organising for the event. With over 10,000 people reading our initial post we thought that it would be good to add an update for you all.

We hope to release a heap of information by the end of February but until then, here is what we can tell you….

Dates are the 15th, 16th and 17th Sept.
The event will take place in and around the Maitland district

Basically it will comprise of:

15th Sept:
Meet and Greet Night: For those early people that just can’t wait to get together and talk Torana’s!!

This is going to be held in a Licensed Establishment (that is within walking distances to the Toranafest Motels.)
Cost for this is yet to be confirmed but we are looking around $12 - $15 per head for the finger food.

16th Sept:
Toranafest Cruise: What a great way to spend a Saturday arvo!
This will happen around lunchtime with a leisurely cruise to Morpeth.
Once there, we will be parked up in the same location as in 2015 and people will have the chance to have a look through the historic township.
With over 150 cars coming along in 2015, we are expecting the same number for this year.

Toranafest Dinner: Rub Shoulders with some Legends of the Torana era!

This will happen Saturday night and will include interviews with some of the greats from yesteryear, as well as Auctions and other fun.
This is going to be held in a Licensed Establishment (that is within walking distances to the Toranafest Motels.)
Cost for this is yet to be confirmed but we are looking around $50 - $55 per head for the a very good three course meal!
One thing that we won’t have to contend with is the weather as in previous years!

17th Sept:
Toranafest Show & Shine: This is the main event!!

With 350 plus cars expected, we have moved the event to Maitland Park, where all entrants will be parked on the grass. No dust! No Dirt! No Mud!
The Sunday is something not to be missed by any Torana Nut!

Accommodation:
This is probably the most asked about subject that we have had.

As we are moving the Hub of Toranafest to Maitland we have been working hard with the Maitland City Council and various Motels in the area to get the best possible deals for you all.

As we are still in negotiations with these businesses we will only be releasing information when we have it all sorted out.

We have taken a lot into consideration with regards to the accommodation and we think we have come up with a couple of great establishments.

The motels that we have chosen will have security over the course of the weekend.

Both Motels have been told not to release rooms until we have gone public so you will have to keep watching the page to get the information. Don't worry.. we will give you  a few days warning!

So, at this stage all we can say is standby and we will let you all know when we will be releasing information..

Cheers
The Toranafest Team.

Motels as I plural?
Will they be close together? I may be out on my own here but that's the best bit imo.
