Hi Guys,
I'm new to this, so hope I am in the right spot.
Looking for some information, perhaps from Bazza, on my LJ 2 door, believed to be XU1. The 2 front tags are missing. From the ADR tag I have 10/72, ALJ14100B, which matches the LH inner skirt. It has all the usual & obvious XU1 bits, except for fitment of a V8 & 5 speed box. Has been in its current form since prior to 1982. Are there any smaller & less obvious identifiers that I can look for, to indicate XU1 or not.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Peter.
Hi and welcome Peter,
Can't tell anything about the originality from the chassis number except it is a Brisbane Built car.
Apparently the last three numbers of the PSN (vin number) on Brissy cars was usually written in texta on the back of the Compliance plate (the one near the wiper motor). If you remove the compliance plate and there are numbers on the back then PM Bazza and he might be able to narrow down what your car could be.
Cheers
Dave
Hi Dave,
Thanks for the welcome & the info.
I was aware from the chassis no that it was a Brisbane car, which is consistent with it being an XU1, & had also heard about the black texta on the back of the ADR tag, but am reluctant to consider removing the tag, as it still retains the original wide rivets & didn't want to disturb it. Without using ID numbers, are there any small, subtle, or less obvious differences on the car that might give some clues, such as holes, clips, brackets, bolts, hoses, pipes, etc, etc. I know this will be no proof, but will be a guide.
If all else fails, & curiosity gets the better of me, I may still have to remove the tag.
Hoping there are some answers.
Regards,
Peter.
