no PSN is a drama, also had a look at JP motor of vin disc, can not find it
cars not worth 40k you would be better of looking at the lime green 1971 GTR
on ebay for for 35k....this car is the very first GTR built and more collectable than the bitsa thing on shannons

Apparently its an LC GTR but its missing the two front tags so i dont know if it is or not.I didnt take the engine that was with the car at the time which he said was the original engine, it had a hole thru the side so i told him to throw it away.
Considering the scarcity and lc 2.jpg 838.26K 6 downloads price of these cars now id like to try again to find out how likely it is that the car is a real GTR.
Ive taken some pics of the carb linkages,it has the triangle bracket with the vertical pin and the bracket with the round hole in it but it also has another more square flat bracket with two small holes in the end of it fitted below and to the right of where the heater hoses protrude from the heater box.Ill put the pics of the brackets up tomorrow.
The build date is 8/70 and body number is LC13791B so its a Brisbane car so should it or will it have the last 4 digits scribed or written on the back of the one tag it still has?
The tag looks like it has never been removed so i dont want to take it off if it is unlikely to have the numbers written on the back of it,ill put a pic of the tag and its rivets up as well. The flutes and body number do not appear to be welded in.
The car has all the badges,GTR door trims, back seat (i gave away the original front seats) dash etc. and looks to be phantom grey.
The car now has a 350 chev, glide and 9 inch in it and ive used it at the drags on and off over the years so its in no way an original car now but id really like to know if it ever was a genuine GTR.
Thanks for any help.

Checking the back of the ADR tag for the last part of the VIN only works with Adelaide built cars. The back of a Brisbane built car only reveals the Body Number with tells us nothing about the car. BTW LC13791B is the Chassis Number not the Body Number.
I think the best that you can hope for is that your car will have the features usually found on GTRs eg. triangular plate, single spare wheel bracket, full instrumentation etc.

Someone will chime in if I am wrong - but that looks right for an LC GTR. Be sure that the triangular bracket is spot welded in place.

That's the Chassis Number and all that can be established is that the car is an LJ (model unknown) and was completed in Brisbane around the second week of Nov '73.

Unfortunately - there is no way to establish the trim without the Body Identiication plate

"BODY No 4858-A" and from reading this thread it seems Young Len has the same thing.
I was shopping for a roadworthy and a mechanic who decided all three should match told me my car was cut and shut and to "take it somewhere else "
can someone help me understand what these numbers mean ? and do all Toranas have this ?

My inner guard stamp number is repeated on my compliance plate but the body identification plate has a number second from the top labelled as

Hi thorley
People get confused between Chassis Numbers and Body Numbers. They are 2 different things and bear no relationship to each other. For registration purposes with older cars, the Chassis Number is used. As you mention, the Chassis Number appears on the ADR tag and is also stamped on the inner passenger side. These numbers must agree. The information that appears on the Body Identification tag (including the Body Number) is generally used for warranty and repair purposes and the numbers thereon don't not have to agree with anything for registration purposes.
I'll bet nobody on the forum has a car with the same number in 3 places (except by sheer coincidence).
Cheers
