Bazza, thanks for the info. Have been reviewing your comments to "thorley", which give me a bit more confidence with ID for my car.

Hi i am new to this site and i was wondering if anyone could help me to verify wether or not a car i have just purchased is a genuine GTR or XU1 i know that the engine is from a gtr but i dont think its the original motor from this car if anyone could help me with more info on this car i would be eternally greatful

Merry Xmas all.

Just wanted to add my LC XU1 that I bought when I was 19, now 46 on to the records.

10/70

Chassis: LC 19518A.

Vin tag missing due to earlier repair tho impressions from a ball point pen under ADR plate are #'s 1458.

Model: 82911.

Body:2118-A

Trim: 1800-40V.

Paint: 568-12205.

Engine #: 3100x22514. H 1 9 0. 2815843 G 9 0.

Car is in need of restoration.

P,S. When I bought the car it had a 10ft whip aerial smack bang in the middle of the boot lid, just in case a previous owner remembers doing

this!

Welcome to the forum.

82911CL161458, an XU-1, was completed in Adelaide on 5/10/70 and used internally by GMH Adelaide (hence no engine number listed on the disc). Rally Red with black interior. The Chassis Number and Body Number are consistent with the build date recorded. The engine number and cast dates are also appropriate for that build date.

8D11LCL251249J is the VIN of a GTR completed in Adelaide on 27/8/73 and sold by John H Ellers Pty Ltd during 9/73. The original engine number was JL388732. The colour is Sunburst Met with black vinyl trim. All the numbers quoted are consistent datewise.

That wouldn't be L247990J by any chance? There is no L247930J listed on the disc.

L247930 is not listed. The VIN, Chassis Number and Body Number are consistent with a late '73 build. Do you have the orginal engine number?

The reason why I suggested L247990 is because it went over your way to Sydney Atkinson Motors - Perth WA

I have come across a few vehicles that never made it onto the VIN disc (including a couple of '73 Bathurst XU-1s).

no i dont have original numbers for motor the car is my mate he wants to sell it
its pink at the moment done up to a xu1 can you tell me the colour it suppose to be and trim cheers bazza

Tangerine with plain black long-grain vinyl trim.

It could actually be the VIN that you gave, but it has been entered incorrectly into GMHs records as L247990.

H176485 is a GTR completed on 4/11/70 at the Brisbane plant. It was sold by Beazley and Bruce - Braddon ACT during the same month. The original engine number was 2600S26245. It was Rally Red with black vinyl interior. The car also featured a black vinyl roof (BVR)

30 + years ago I went to a Holden dealer to get a small amount of 568-12692 paint to fix some stone chips on my LJ .

The label on the Dulux tin was marked - TURNPIKE ORANGE .

Holden call 568-12692 Tangerine .

Dulux [supplied Holden with paint ] call 568-12692 Turnpike orange .
