i was interested in buying a LJ GTR numbers seem funny but can someone help me thanks,

8D11LCH278257J is a LJ GTR completed at Acacia Ridge on 23/05/1973 and sold in June 1973 by Dealer 623 - Ken Sams Motors, Padstow, NSW.
The original eng # is L340491.
Trim combination 1816 59X is Chestnut vinyl.
Paint code 568 12692 is Tangerine.
BLJ46747B is the chassis number stamped into the left hand wheelhouse panel and should match with the number on the Compliance plate.

Bazza is the chassis number guru and should be able to tell you if the chassis number and or body number align with the manufacture date.

The mods will probably move this to the verification thread.

Hi all ,could someone please check these numbers for me please
LJGTRXU1 chassis BLJ32955,Model 82911,94332-A,Trim 1854-50X,Paint 568-15345,VIN 8B11DCL242984J,JP Block 435842.The car is painted yellow ,the compliance plate is missing.This car has been sitting for about 15 years and has rear end damage.Thanks in advance Paul.

The VIN tag relates to a 2 door S model completed in Adelaide on 1/6/73. The Chassis Number and Body Number accord with a car completed in Adelaide during late Nov 1973.

The engine number 435842 (which is not a JP) is a JL 202 that was fitted to a GTR (8D11LDL257896J) that was completed on 22/11/73 and sold during 12/73 by City Motors, Newcastle St, Perth WA.

From the Body ID tag info that you have provided the car is Mustard with black vinyl trim.

It would appear that the car may be a GTR that has had a missing VIN tag replaced with one from a different car to make things "look right" (this happens often).

Still worth buying as a GTR, just pull the VIN tag off. Enquire about rego before purchase.

Welcome to the forums.

This VIN (82911CH171021) relates to a Brisbane built GTR completed on 14/9/70. It was used internally by GMH Brisbane hence no engine number is recorded. The engine number that you have provided is not the original which would commence with 2600S followed by 229xx. The original body colour was Kashmir White and the interrior was black vinyl.

The Body Number 10439-B is consisent with the VIN and build date, but you have not provided the Chassis Number as a further cross check. The Chassis Number appears on the ADR tag (if fitted) and stamped on the inner guard on the passenger side.

The VIN relates to a Brisbane built XU-1 completed on 19/10/72 and sold by dealer 594 during Nov '72. The original engine number was JP234514. The body colour is Chateau Mauve Met and the trim black vinyl. The VIN, Chassis Number and Body Number are consistent with the build date.

Correct - this one has appeared before. GTR completed 4/12/73 on sold by Sydney Atkinson, Terrace Dve, Perth during 12/73. The engine number is correct as JL442090. The colour is Mustard with black vinyl interior. The Chassis Number accords datewise with the VIN build date as does the Body Number (which I have on record).

Welcome to the forum.

From the info supplied, all that can be established is that the car appears to be a GTR completed in Brisbane in late Oct/early Nov 1971. The Chassis Number and Body Number are from the same time frame. This being the case, it would have been the relatively rare 173S version of the LC GTR. Do you know the original engine number?

The car is Amethyst Metallic and was fitted with black vinyl trim.

I am sorry I can't be for specific - the VIN is required the establish the exact details.

That colour was really only available for the last half of 1971. In the overall picture (1969 to 1974) the colour would be pretty rare but from my records it was fairly common during the last half of 1971.
