Well that throws a spanner in the works. That one's got to be a mistake. It doesn't comply, yet has the BLJ prefix 2 months before it was required.

One other thing though. It's not just the presence of amber lenses (anybody could swap those), it's the extra wiring etc., for the parking light in the headlight which distinguishes the later cars.

Hi Dr Terry
The wireing in this car has the twin plug for both parker and indicator.It also so appears to be the original harness and has not been modified.
It also has the lower PCV value housing in the Tappet cover but that could of been changed.

I thought that all LJ 6-cyl had the lower PCV valve housing. These were introduced at HQ release & flowed thru to late LC & to LJ.

No, AFAIK the low profile PCV socket 6cyl rocker covers weren't released for HQ & LJ until late 1972 or early 1973. All 6cyl rocker covers before this time frame had the tubular sleeve.

_{Also the ones that have only 1 lower socket at the rear are rare little profters and hard to get,like the ones that were on the 73 XU1s.I found that out when I was chasing one for my XU.Seems they only came out from late 72/early 73 for only a few months until they changed to dual sockets(LH Torana) that came out around the 10th month 73.}

can somebody shed some light on my tags that are from a gtr that i bought from adelaide 2 yrs ago the tags go LC torana sedan 2 door 2/71 LC23903A,model LC82911,body no 2726A,trim 1192-40V,paint 568-11401,82911CL168397,it came with reg from S.A

That VIN relates to a GTR completed in Adelaide on 3/2/71 and sold by United Motors Ltd, 62-72 Franklin St, Adelaide SA during March '71. The original engine number was 2600S29494. The colour was Kashmir White and the trim, black vinyl.

The Chassis Number and Body Number are consistent with the build date.

New to all this, only posted once before so sorry if its a dumb question...

Saw a LJ XU1 for sale, had some interesting numbers....can you pls advise if Im correct in my assesment of what they mean...thanks

I have ""x"" out some of the numbers as I have yet to formally speak to the owner, and he/she may not like thier info sprayed around.

ADR plate - LJ 2 door, 11/72, ALJ16xxxA ( understand the first "A" to mean early LJ,i.e 1972, and last "A" to mean Adelaide built.

VIN skinny plate - 8D11PCL2 ( Holden,Xu1,2 door,XU1 engine,early LJ,Adelaide ) xxxxxJ ( LJ)

Body Tag - Model -LJ82911M ( LJ, GTR/XU1,Manual)
Body - 12xxxB (Brisbane?)
Trim - 1822-40X ( ???? , black trim)
Paint - 568-13135 ( Lone-O-Ranger)
Top - ( no vinyl roof)

Stamped in front chassis rail under carbies - NREPS0072xxx

I guess my question is - is that a Brisbane body, on an Adelaide car, with a replacement chassis,that was then painted white?.....and what is the "trim"code 1822 meant to mean?

But for abit more info the skinny tag info would be nice

And if he's trying to verify a car is real he'll need many pics showing body number stamp and lots of tell tale areas referred to in many other threads
