hey guys im going to look at an lc gtr on the weeken problem is it has no tags was just wondering whats some stuff that i can look for that cant be faked very easily ? i have some pics if that would help

weekend sorry oh and i forgot to mention it dose have an adr tag will that help me much ?

HI,

Im looking at buying an LJ GTR tags being 8D11LDH393219J being a 21 September 1973 build and the Trim tag says body number 293219B.

But in the LHS inner guard is stamped BLJ 524288.

Any ideas please. I thought the body number on the trim tag IE 293219B was the body number on the chassis after August 1973?

Hi Dom

A couple of things: that should be 8D11LDH293219J. Notice how the numbers after the H are the same (and should be the same) as the Body Number on the Body Identification tag.

The inner guard stamping BLJ52428Bis the Chassis Number and this number should be the same as the number that appears on the ADR compliance plate.

The above numbers, if are as shown, are all date consistent.

GTR completed Brisbane 4/9/70 and sold by dealer 614 (Savell Bros Pty Ltd, Hurstville NSW) later the same month.

Mediterranean Blue Met with Sandalwood trim.

All the numbers are an excellent fit timewise.

None for that VIN, but the original could have been anything from 2600S196xxx to 2600S229xxx during that period. They seem to have been issued pretty randomly at that time.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and I was hoping whether someone could verify an LC Torana for me - hope it's a GTR! The vehicle has all the tags and they are as follows: Vehicle stamped number (passenger inner wheel arch/fender) LC25520B which matches the tag affixed near the wiper motor which includes the details 2/71 LC Torana Sedan 2 Door.

Body ID Tag:

Model = LC82911M

Body No = 15751B

Trim = 1199 40V

Paint = 568 12204

VIN Tag: 82911CH184370

I understand it to be a Brisbane built car and I think the colour is indy orange...? Currently it's red.

My late Dad owned a LC GTR in LoneO'Ranger Orange & would reminicse ALL the time about it, so as a tribute I'm getting another one (albeit a different orange) and I'm going to take the Old Man (ashes) for one last burn - he'd like that!

I've tried downloading the VIN CD contents and like it says Vista needs a different viewer - any idea which viewer works best and if a free viewer one that doesnt have a virus like so many free apps do...

looking for some help. looking at a lj xu1 but has only got 1 of the tags, its only got the one with the year built and chassis number ALJ01690a . the chassis numbers match but un sure if its the real deal. any help would be great

Being an Adelaide built it should have numbers scratched in the back of the compliance plate this will give you the last numbers of your PSN No. which could be identified, also there are plenty of other things to look for in the shell to assume its an XU.

yeh was a few little defects in the paint andcould see where it was bogged up in seal panels. getting it registerd mite be tricky with only one complince plate, not sure?
