HI guys. Im trying to find info on a car i have a chance to buy. The owner isnt sure what it really is &

has a couple of sets of tags which is a bit worrying. I have looked at vin disc but cant seem to decipher the betsbac for some reason & dont know if these tags belong to this car.  Engine is not original but the rest of the car looks good & it has xu1 fuel tank & booster so may possibly have xu1 options. Is there any specific things to look for that might help me determine what this actually is.

CHASSIS NO BLJ48287B which matches compliance plate no

Small tag no 8d11lch268168j

Body tag etc has

model lj82911

body no 19978b

trim 1816 59x

paint 568 12692

The other set of tags he has is missing the small tag which i assume is very hard to get any info without.

Any help & info would be greatly appreciated

Hi

 

Long story short - The VIN and Body ID Tag relate to a GTR completed 2/3/73 BUT the Chassis Number stamping and Compliance plate are from a July 1973 car.

hi, was just wondering if anyone can help me id a torana that I may be able to purchase, it only seems to have 1 tag on drivers side firewall, says its a 10/73, 2 door sedan, blj31443a, it has all the usual gtr bits and pieces like dash, steering wheel, door trims. no eng or box, has the same blj31443a stamped on the rhs inner guard. all black interior,front guard flutes are not welded but factory looking from feeling inside. cant think of any other identifying features, the current owner says its definitely a GTR, was last regoed 5 yrs ago with those numbers but with a 253 and 4spd, any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks :mellow:

Those numbers will only tell you the build date as you already know
there are few more tell tale signs on identifying if its a real gtr
but without those other tags its just an 2 door torana

color sounds like cyan blue

if the flutes havent been cut in and the guards havent been replaced then what u have described is a gtr

next time u view it u can ring me and ill go over it with u  over the phone

hi, can anyone give me info on a tag number BLJ31443A this number is on the inner guard also, the owner says its a genuine gtr but no other tags are on it? has all the dash guards etc its dark blue thanks Greg

What a load of crap. Missing tags does not make it an "s". It will still be a GTR with a couple of tags missing.

greg,look under the ADR plate on fire wall and that will give you the last four numbers of the vin and also check the boot for one or two brackets for the spare wheel.    ps it maybe L255564 have down a chassis number and vin very close.

thanks guys, all good info, Aldo very kind of you and may just take you up on it, I did do the deal and will pick it up Sunday week.I did a PPSR check and it was last regoed 2007 with 253 (im Guessing but eng no is QR942367) which I assume is a 253 from lookin on here, the eng is long gone but he has thrown in an inj 5.0 that's quite worked, may use that in my hatch. I will post picks asap. thanks again.

What Skap means is,

 

paint code 567-13884 = Chateau Mauve Metalic

Trim 1842-48X = Black 563-06912 ( ash tray lid ) Black 578-04149 ( instrument panel, upper steering column assembly ) Sandalwood 578-04170 ( seat adjuster guard, bucket seat side arms )

 

82911JL198841 - is your VIN, Bazza shoud be able to check the rest of the numbers for you

thanks again guys, Anthony the adr plate doesn't have any numbers scratched into the back of it?or do you mean scratched into the body?  but there is only 1 spare wheel bracket in the boot, anything else I should look for now that I have it at home? I would put photo's up but cant work out how to get em from photobucket to this forum, but that's another story, thanks again Greg

hi guys, in the right light I can see a very fine number scratched into the back of the adr plate, the number is (5551) does that mean anything? cheers Greg

Greg, vin L255551 is an Adelaide built GTR completed 12/10/73, sold 11/73, original engine number JL416357.

Can anyone please help.

I purchased what I thought was a XU1 5 years ago from a collector. I have contacted Holden for verification and they have no records prior to 71.

Details are as follows

Year 5/70

Model LC 82911

MODEL 1312-A

TRIM 1190-48X

PAINT 568-11429

VIN 82911CLI 50822

My thoughts to date are GTR.

I would appreciate if any body could help.

In addition - do you have the Chassis Number? This provides another aspect as to originality.
