Hi guys,
First of all any help would very welcomed!!
I've stumbled across a lc 2 door in my travels and the owner believes it is a real gtr. It only has the skin id tag and vin number on the inner guard. Any info on this info would be great !!
Skinny tag... Vin: 82911CL169377.
Number inside left guard, LC24337A.
No it's not to go on but would like to see if anyone can help me out!!
Cheers Derek.

Hi Derek

That VIN appears on the VIN disc as a GTR completed in Adelaide on 11/2/71 and sold by Freeman Motors P/L, 215 Grenfell St, Adelaide during March '71. The original engine number was 2600S30207.

The VIN and Chassis Number are a good fit datewise. It is odd that the ADR tag is missing but the other two are there. Usually the VIN and Body Tag are the first to go missing due to having been stolen or lost due to frontal collision damage. If the car has all the GTR identifiers the likelihood is that it is genuine.

What is the present body colour and trim details?

Cheers

Bazza

Thanks Bazza!!  Its currently Salamanca red with black interior.  The front guards look like originals (the flutes aren't welded in) original door trims with ash trays etc. behind the back seat trims you can see where the pin holes for the gtr badges where before they got bogged over and removed before it was resprayed.  Would really like to know the factory colour but with out the other tag pulling it apart is the only option I guess??.  Ill post a photo or two on my profile as I cant attach them on here for some reason and see what you think.

Hi

Finding the original is sometimes easy. It depends on the level of preparation that was taken for the respray. I found ample evidence of the original colour of mine under the kick panels and under the rear package tray trim (aka rear parcel shelf). There are other places but it involves rubbing back the paint in various places.

Cheers

Does it have the triangular shaped GTR throttle bracket spot welded to the firewall (next to the std throttle bracket) in the engine bay?

Dash yes, bumps in back seat yes, the steering wheel is gone. Still got the gtr badge on the boot. The bracket I'll have to check, can't tell from the photos I have.

Hi I am a new member to this site and was really hoping someone can verify some tag numbers off an LC 2 door Torana for me before I commit to buying it. Numbers as follows:

Tag next to wiper motor:

Body ID no. LC82911

Body no. 2924A

Trim - 1800-40V

Paint - 568-12205

Thin Tag on front radiator support panel:

82911CL170460

Larger tag beside the above:

8/71   LC25294A

Number stamped on left inner guard:

ALC39974B

Would really appreciate some feedback on this a soon as i can please,

Cheers Geoff

Hi Geoff

Adelaide LC GTR tags on a Brisbane LC body.

Also the body ID plate should be affixed on the passenger side of the radiator support panel and the compliance plate should be near the wiper motor, not the other way around as you have described.

These numbers, LC25294A & ALC39974B should match, but they don't. Note the suffix letters A = Adelaide, B = Brisbane.

Steer well clear me thinks.

Just looked up PSN L170460, it comes up as an Adelaide built XU1 completed on 4/03/1971.

So the compliance tag dated 8/71 isn't even from the same car the VIN tag came from.

Hi gemazare

This VIN appears on the VIN disc as a GTR completed in Adelaide on 3/2/70 and sold by E H Hage and Co, Tanunda SA. There is no engine number recorded but the original would have been in the 2600S8xxx to 2600S9xxx range.

The colour 568 11429 is Sebring Orange and the trim is black vinyl with black and orange houndstooth inserts.

The VIN, Chassis Number and Body Number all accord datewise.

Cheers

Bazza

Hi

2600S (aka 161S) and an Opel 4 speed. It's a year and a half too early for the Aussie 4 speed

Cheers
