Hi Darren
Judging by the numbers you've posted you have a Brisbane body shell, compliance plate and body ID plate however the Vin Tag is from an Adelaide built car.

Good morning Dave I did expect that would be the case. As I has been damaged on the corner. So at this point I have a stray vin plate. can I find out what vin no. it should have had. Will this be a problem when I try to re register? It has been regoed in my name before. I would like to find out if the other two are a match as the ADR plate does match the body. Also I would like to know what details we can dig up from my previously mentioned JP block. Cheers for confirming what I suspected. PS I'm only a little disappointed. Thanks for the reply Cheers.

G/day Daz
I'm sure Bazza will be able to help you further but pinpointing your original Vin number will be near impossible.

Hi all, I've just realised with my earlier post on my tags that I've gotten the locations mixed up, the little tag is on the drivers side rad support, not near the firewall! That's what happens when you cut and paste when tired!
Anyways a picture tells a thousand words, so's heres the tags..

Hi Bazza,
Thanks for that, I'm really happy the car checks out OK.
Yes, the stamped in chassis number matches the number on the ADR tag.

Hello everyone, I bought a GTR some 25 years ago. Sadly the original motor was already long gone so it had a QL prefix block as it's new power plant. I'm just going to give you all the good details & see what we think.
From the large tag on top of the firewall ADR tag
LJ TORANA SEDAN 2 DOOR. 4/72 ALJ03641B this no. 03641B is also stamped on top inner guard passenger side.
The BODY ID tag MODEL. LJ82911M
BODY No. 03716B
TRIM 1843 40X
PAINT 567 13885
TOP
The VIN tag 82911 J L2 29798 all tags where fix with what looked like the original hollow retainers
At the time knowing the engine was a QL. & not required I shopped around & found this complete block
with the lot engine No. JP320365 from what I have seen of this car it has had 4 paint jobs & almost
as many engines & one reasonable hit in the front left all of which make me wonder about the vin tag.
I'm sure to have more Questions but they can wait. Cheers to all the screaming 6 cylinder fans.
Thanks for any Info & help.
Hi Sandpit Daz,
the JP you mentioned is from a 4/73 XU1 vin 237774.

Cheers for that Adam that is nice to know. I was thinking it was a late '72.

no worries, what is the cast date on it ?

G'day GTR verification needed. I'm looking at buying this GTR. I have arranged to view the car soon.
I've been assured it is genuine but just want to be sure. It's an Adelaide build so the Model ID tag looks bad & may have been "adjusted" & I think not from this body. I also think the Vin may be wrong for this car.
ADR pl. LJ Torana 2 door 06/73 BLJ 25167 A note: I'm yet to see the body stamp.
VIN 8 D 11 L C L2 44524J
MODEL ID pl.
Model no. 82911
Body no. 78565 A note: this line looks bad on pl. & I think out of sequence range aswell
TRIM 1854-50x
PAINT 568-15345
The car is an older resto not to original specs using some genuine & reproduction parts as well as standard Torana parts.
I'm told It looks reasonable good & I was looking to use it as a driver while my other car is being restored.
Cheers for your assistance from Darren
PS sorry if I left the details in the wrong place earlier today.

HI Adam to be honest I don't know it was just a complete JP back in the late 80's & we didn't play the numbers game so hard back then. Water pump to fly wheel with triples & exhaust cast headers. Cost me $1000 back then & you could choose the closest one. I'll have to check it out one day, it was just a spare motor & I haven't needed it yet.

Please have a look at this thread before you consider this GTR. I almost got on a plane to view it, but the seller wanted way too much; given it's "questionable" heritage.

Cheers I did think it was a bit sus just from the plates but the computer enhanced picture trick has save me from a 2 hour drive for nothing. Must learn how to do that on my over priced electric typing thingy. THANKS It's a nice car but not for me.
Keep it real & made from steel. thanks for your input.

Hi there, im new to this forum, ive recently looked a two door lj torana the car has been in the 1 family since new and a friend has offered it to me the car has the original badges etc larger fuel tank and dash etc but im not sure if its a genuine xu1 lj gtr?
it has the vin badge on the firewall behind the booster -9/72 lj torana 2 door #alj11879b
matching number on l/h wheel arch #alj11879b
l/h long skinny tag next to radiator- 82911jh247176
its missing the r/h badge next to the radiator with the colour code n trim code etc is this a vital thing to get it regoed in nsw?
also does this de value the car at all? its missing the jp block and tripples but other then that its all there complete and pretty rust free. its currently lime green/black? unsure if original colour etc?

Hi Bushie
Welcome to the forums.
This car appears on the VIN disc as a GTR completed on 29/8/70 and exported to NZ during Sept '70.
The numbers provided all accord datewise. It is Silvermist Metallic with gold vinyl trim.
Cheers
Bazza
PS - yes iain# there has been a fair amount of interest shown.
