Hi Rob

 

The seller hasn't identified the actual car but the Chassis Number and Body Number accord datewise.  From the Body Identification tag we can see that the tag is from a GTR built in Brisbane towards the end of April 1971, but this tells us nothing about the authenticity of the car in question. The tag goes on to say that the original colour was Kashmir White with Venetian Green interior. These tags have come up on a previous occasion. Caution is advised.

  Hi everyone,

              I have previously said I have a JP block that I bought along time ago. 

  I would like to know if everything in the pics looks correct.

  It looks like it has been apart before, so some parts are not factory bits.

  So for now, I'm mainly interested in, if the block appears to be real.    

 

  Hopefully I got it right way back then.   Thanks.

Hi

 

That engine was originally fitted to L237774 completed in Adelaide on11/4/73. The engine date code is 2/4/73 so that ties in well with the vehicle completion date. The engine number stamp and pad looks ok to me.

Al, a D3 block is not be a dual date cast block.

Hi. There was some markings on the exhaust side but I don't think they mean much.

  The usual 202 is found near the front & a small 2 was found just rearward of the

engine mount.

Apparently if a claimed genuine XU1 block hasn't got a 3 for that single number then its a fake/restamp

 

For me that's a bit hard to swallow when I personally know a 1 owner car that has a 2 like the one above.

 

Has anyone else heard of this??

Too much BS floating around out there about JP blocks, always has and always will be.

Hi Guys.  Trying to find some more details about an LJ coupe im considering buying. Been told its a GTr but trying to do some checking myself.  Its missing a couple of tags, still has the manufactures plate with these details. 

 

6/72 ALJ06232B

 

and stamped into inner left guard N890414P which im pretty sure is a police stamp yeah?

 

Any info would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forums.

 

That VIN appears on the VIN disc as a GTR completed in Brisbane on 23/11/73 and sold by dealer 605 during Jan '74. The original engine number was JL437292. The colour is Covert Metallic and the trim "Ash".  The tag details all accord datewise.
