Johno,The engine number is not on vin disc the numbers relate to one of the first 12 built at adelaide 6 plated but built in the 7/70 but vin number and information on xu1 will stay private for now.

I'm looking at a LC gtr with following tags which I have pictures of:
VIN:
82911CL161705

ADR:
4,5A,7,20
HOLDEN
LC TORANA SEDAN 2 DOOR
10/70 LC19707A
Number on back of tag
161705

CHASSIS STAMP :
LC19707A

Paint tag missing but owner thinks rally red with black trim.
My question is this an original GTR and can the original paint and trim be worked out from provided informatiOn.

Without the body Id plate you can only look and hope there is some evidence of the original colour hiding somewhere, otherwise

 just paint it whatever color you want.

If none of the original trim has survived then you could also trim it in whatever colour you like.

The VIN number 8D11PCL222576J belongs to an Adelaide build GTR XU1 completed on the 8th of December 1972 and sold in December 1972 by Dealer 385 in Victoria.

 

The original engine number is JP253111.

Paint:# 567-13135 is 'The Lone-O-Ranger'

The Chassis number and the Body number accord with the compliance date.

Not quite Anthony.

 

8D11PCL222590J was also completed on the 8/12/1972.

8D11PCL222741J was the last Adelaide XU1 completed by date in 1972 on the 13/12/1972.

While we're fixing things - I believe dealer 385 was Noel Gould (Berwick) Princes Hwy, Narre Warren Vic. Bayside Motors P/L was the Frankston dealer at the time.

Hey guys, ive been prowling this forum for 10yrs and thought it was time to join! lol.

I need some help just to confirm an LJ XU1 im looking at buying.

Details are:

Model: LJ82911

Body no: 1285A

Trim: 1822-40X

Paint: 567-13135

 

Tag up near firewall says: 11/72 , ALJ 16311A

Skinny vin tag: 8D11PCL22576J

Body no. stamped on wheel arch: ALJ16311A

 

From what i gather its an original Lj GTR XU-1, Lone ranger orange, has P in the skinny vin tag which indicates JP engine (no longer with the car)

Can any please shed some more light on this particular car, and anything else that will help identify this as genuine.

Tim,No Brisbane built xu1 as a ALJ01###B chassis your GTR vin H224912 and sold by Harrisons QLD. Do you still have the original JL017698?
