Yeah that's obliviously the one. I asked where it was and he was very cagey playing his cards close to his chest, worried he might get gazumped or something.

Hi guys,
Not sure if you can help me check if my LJ Coupe is a GTR or just an "S" model.
Build is 05/1973.
Chassis number is BLJ34775B.
ADR tag also matches this chassis number.
I don't have a VIN tag, but I believe the body number or PSN is 23289. This number was written with texta on the back of the ADR tag.
I don't have any engine number.
Is this enough to find out any further info?
Any help is appreciated.

Hi LHoon
23289 would be the Body Number. Unfortunately, as luck would have it, the car appears to have been built about one day before the factory started using the PSN as the Body Number.
If the car has the original engine, that may help but the Chassis Number alone is of no assistance in identifying the vehicle. If the car has only one small spare wheel bracket on the boot floor near the spare wheel well, that is a good indicator of the car being a GTR.
Cheers

Hi Bazza,
Thanks for that. The car does only have one small spare wheel bracket on the boot floor near the spare wheel well.
I'm getting Holden Historical Services to check the records for me to work out if this is an XU1. The guy there says he has enough information now to work it out. I'm just waiting for the results.

Hello Everyone!
I am new to this site, I have just finished restoring a HK GTS Monaro and wanting a LC or LJ Torana to play around with next, (not full resto) this was my first car I had when I was a young bloke.I have come across a LJ torana up for sale just up the road from me.
I am not very familiar with Torana numbers on the tags, can some one check these to let me know if it is a real GTR and colour etc.... any information would be great!
Thank you
Tag 1 (Firewall)
LJ TORANA SEDAN 2 DOOR
07/73 BLJ 26883A
Tag 2 (large front)
MODEL- LJ82911
BODY No- 82673A
TRIM- 1816-50X
PAINT- 568-12692
Tag 3 (skinny VIN)
8D11LCL247930J
Body (LH inner guard)
BLJ26883A
I don't have the engine number yet I don't think its the original motor What else should I be checking to see if this is a Genuine GTR?
Thank you

G/day Angelo
This GTR's PSN (L247930) does not appear on the warranty service records so unfortunately no other info relating to the PSN is available.
The colour is Tangerine and all the tag numbers align
.Hopefully one or both the front fenders are original to this GTR, so look for signs of untouched spot welds.
Also inspect carefully for signs that could indicate the chassis number in the left wheelhouse panel has been tampered with.
There are a few WA members on the forum with LC/LJ's who may be willing to have a look at the car with you if needed?
Cheers
Dave.

doesn't give a chassis number but does the below sound kosher for a '71 XU-1?
vin 82911CH630781 ?
body 23267B
(from trademe: http://www.trademe.c...-1156178649.htm )
Posted 05 September 2016 - 07:49 PM
Hi
Nope - not kosher because Sydney didn't make any XU-1s. This car was doing the rounds in 2014 with a March '71 ADR tag.
Cheers

Badge holes on the right side ?... of the rear panel ?

Hi [Azer]
I might be prudent to see the numbers first - then determine whether they fit with what is purported. Either post them here or PM me.

Hi Matt
L172659 appears on the VIN disc as being a GTR completed in Adelaide on 25/3/71 and sold by Nottle Churack P/L, 33 Burlington St, Naval Base WA during April '71. The original engine number was 2600S33458. From the other info that you have provided, the colour is Indy Orange with black vinyl trim. This car has appeared 'for sale' a couple of times over the past 8 years with a Chassis Number ending in '55'.
Cheers and welcome to the GMH Torana forums.

Hi Bazza...does that mean there was an actual GMH dealer on the base??
Hi Col
I don't know the history of the suburb "Naval Base" but as far as I know it just the name, like any other suburb.
Cheers
Bazza

Yep, just a suburb 'bout 10mins from me. Shacks Holden used to be there before it moved to Rocko...
Posted 26 September 2016 - 06:41 PM
Thanks for that Bazza! I've had the car for the last 5 years and i have had limited information about it. Really appreciate it!
Cheers Matt
