Sorry to say that that Chassis Number doesn't go with that VIN - they are about 12 months apart. Probably the reason why the ADR tag is missing.
Cheers

Thanks Bazza, that is disappointing.

Thanks Bazza, that is disappointing.
My guess it that 2 legitimate GTR tags have been fitted to an earlier S Model. The ADR tag has been discarded because the 2 Chassis Numbers would not match. A quick check that you might like to undertake is to examine the boot near the spare wheel well and check the number and type of spare wheel brackets. A genuine GTR would only have the smaller of the 2 brackets.

Thanks Bazza, Thanks for your detailed information. I have taken a photo of my boot.

The large bracket looks to have been removed when the car boot was tubbed. The pic below is what a GTR or XU-1 boot is supposed to look like. Does it have one of these throttle brackets under the bonnet on the firewall?

There is a bracket like that on the fire wall.
Posted 25 March 2017 - 04:38 PM
Ok If that bracket is attached with factory spot welds it is probably legit. The early Chassis Number is a bit of a mystery though. Perhaps it has been repaired with parts from an earlier car? Go back to post #1469 and comment on those issues. In addition - what is the Body Number on the Body Identification tag? The colour Mediterranean Blue Metallic suggests that it is from a post July 1970 car so that fits with the 25/1/71 VIN.

OK the Body Number is: 2659-A. Is that any help?

Mark, has your GTR got the compression bump stop above the upper control arm like the Torana in this pic.

Sorry Dave, can't see a picture attached. There has been some major pilfering from this car no disc calipers shocks and I am sure more.

Refresh your page and you should see it.
Also, are there any signs that there once was a compliance plate affixed on the panel near the wiper motor?

Mark - have another very close look at the stamped Chassis Number.

There are no signs that a plate has been fixed to that area near the wiper motor. This is a photo of the front.
Posted 25 March 2017 - 06:51 PM
Ok then you have a late 1969 or early 1970 Torana. As Bazza has already confirmed the ID tags and body shell are about 12 months apart.
Oh and the upper control arm on your car is not the correct type for that bump stop configuration.
Actually the whole front crossmember is from a later car.

I suppose I should ask if the same bump stop exists on the drivers side rail.

I have taken a picture of the chassis number. I read it as LC07339A.

Mark - This car was sold on eBay during June 2010. At that time the Chassis Number was given as LC23381A which fits with the VIN 82911CL167595 and Body Number 02659-A. It would appear that the car was rebodied in the intervening years. Check under the dash for evidence of the ADR tag rivet holes having been filled in, and check the "C" pillar for evidence of the "S" badge holes having been filled.

LC82911
23595B
1193 40X
567 11425
someone on the Q&A has mentioned that in 2011 the car had a Sydney VIN, and now it has an Adelaide one....

Hi
I don't know what format you have the data in, but it appears on File 4 page 709. I don't believe that that VIN tag belongs on that car so looking it up is moot.
