Hi All,

Looking to check some numbers on an LC Torana to see if its genuinely a GTR. I've spent some time trying to read the tags, and I think I've got it correct, but have attached some photos, so feel free to have a gander!

Any information at all that can be gathered from these combinations would be greatly appreciated!!

82911CH623769

Model LC82911

Body No: 22366D

Trim: 1190 - 40X

Paint: 568-11429

https://imgur.com/a/T63qNn4

Any help would be much appreciated!!

It's a 1969 apparently

Could that PSN be H623760?  H623769 does not exist in the Vehicle Master List.

If it is H623760 then this GTR was completed on 02/03/1970 not 1969.

What is the chassis number please.

Hi,
can anyone help in verifying this tag info as genuine, GTR or not. Does anyone previously know these numbers.

Making an enquiry for a mate.

Thanks.

Hi

That VIN appears on the disc as a GTR completed in Brisbane on 5/5/71. The original engine number was 2600S35656. The selling dealer was code 507 (country NSW). Verdoro Green Met with Sandalwood trim. The tag numbers accord datewise.

I haven't come across this vehicle in the 13 years that I have been documenting numbers.

Cheers

Bazza

Hi

Yes we know the Chassis Number stamping is oriented incorrectly. Have seen that a few times before where accident damage has been repaired.

82911CH173682 is a GTR XU1 built in the Acacia Ridge VAP in Brisbane and completed on the 08/10/1970.

The engine number recorded is x22160 and the rear axle ratio was 3.08:1.

The chassis number and body number both align for the build time frame and the PSN.

There is no sales date recorded and the selling dealer has been concealed.

That very late November/very early December 1973 GTR body tag does not belong with that July 1973 chassis number.

Do the tags look like they have been off? Or evidence of front accident damage. My guess is most likely a replacement body.
It looks like the ADR tag and the VIN tag go together but the BODY tag is from a far earlier car like around 8-9/72. Possibly the car is a stolen car, ADR, VIN and chassis number removed and those later 5/73 tags added. Or someone has tried to turn a GTR into an XU1 using XU1 ADR and VIN tags plus Nasco engine..

The NSW Police chassis number is from 1994. Nasco/GMP&A engine could have been originally installed in almost any XU1 as a long or short or possibly even a block/piston kit.

Thanks for the info, what does a police chassis number mean it was stolen?

The motor is definitely a later meodel short engine replacement with genuine pistons, rods i have those reciepts... thanks for the help. So it is a genuine GTR?

Police chassis number was issued when original was gone, whether that be by accident or by thieves.

As tags are mismatched and who knows what the body’s origins are, I’d call it a Torana.

Hi Johnny

The Body Identification tag is from August 1972. The car that that tag was originally fitted to was Nutmeg Metallic but the original colour of 8D11PCH276280J was Mustard.

The car in question was on eBay 10 years ago and was painted red at the time. Look for 1973 features. It could be that the car is genuine but has had extensive repairs and was perhaps pained red at the time. The original Body Identification tag could have been irreparably damaged and substituted with an earlier tag to make it look correct (I have seen this done before).

I hope this helps.

Cheers

Bazza
