8D11PCH258652J is an XU1 completed at the Acacia Ridge Assembly Plant on the 5/11/1972.

Chassis number ALJ15962B aligns with the VIN number and build time frame.

JP242969 is the recorded engine number for this car.

I have this XU1 recorded as being Trim combination 1824 - 40X  Salamanca Red (568 13138) and Black Roebuck vinyl trim

The car was sold in January 1973 by Dealer 792. I do not have any info recorded for Dealer 792.

Do you mean the Production Broadcast Sheet that accompanied the car down the production line? If so then the answer is NOT POSSIBLE.

No worries thought it was a big ask.. are you aware if it is one the Bathurst Models?

Many thanks

The only thing you need to confirm if your 1972 LJ XU-1 is a " Bathurst " is if it was sold in Australia..........

and what role it played.

Amendment 2/2V Sprintmasters ( 200 )

Amendment 4/4V Track ( 200 )

Requiring 400 cars to complete the 2 amendments ( 2/2V, 4/4V ), Holden produced 50% 200 cars with sprintmasters in their August/September run of LJ XU-1,s.

Attached File  50 (2).jpg   123.02K   1 downloads

It was the 200 cars in the October/November run of LJ XU-1,s along with the second batch of self locating sprintmasters that completed the homologation process for 1972.

Hi Guys,

Just found this site.

I am looking to find out some more information on my Torana and will also be shortly starting to tidy her up and will be looking for parts.

I'd love to know moreon my 1972 Holden Torana GTR
XU1.

I have the chassis number and engine number but not the Vin so would
be keen to see what other members of the site might be able to tell me

Chassis number is ALJ10666B
Engine number JP198650

Any help would be much appreciated

Quintin

Hi Quintin

Welcome to the forums.

A number of forum members record GTR and XU1 numbers as the cars come up for sale etc. The VIN disc doesn't reveal too much info but we know from the Chassis Number the approximate build date of any car in question. Your car would have been built around the 9th or 10th of August 1972 and we can tell which cars were exported. As it turns out I have a car on my records that was built on the 9th of Aug '72 which is only 2 Chassis Numbers away from the Chassis Number that you have provided. Engine numbers are not recorded on the VIN disc in respect of exported cars, but the engine number JP198650 in well within the range of engine numbers being fitted around that time. On the balance of probability, I suggest that the VIN of your car would be 82911JH244549 which was completed on 9/8/72.

I hope this is useful

Cheers

Bazza

I am looking at purchasing a New Zealand new 72 LJ XU1. It has no ADR tag (not needed here) so I cant prove the other tags, which have been taken off the car, actually belong to the shell.

The VIN is 82911JL215653 and the body no. is ALJ129567.

Can anyone confirm they actually belong together?

Thanks

Yep, all good. That chassis number is actually ALJ12956A. The body number is located on the Body ID tag.

BTW, that colour is fairly rare. I have 6 examples recorded of that one and, for comparison purposes, I have 69 examples of Glacier White and 40 Mustard.

Hi, looking for some detail on the following ID: 82911CL168750.

Also, why is it so hard to find info about the LC\LJ VIN's compared to the other early Holden's? I've been searching for hours to figure out what the CL168750 refers to... hope it's not stupidly obvious

Cheers.

Information is everywhere on LC-LJ. Just be careful who you listen to.

L168750 is the PSN for the car. C means LC.

It was a GTR from around a February 1971, looks like a stock order as it wasn’t sold until June.

Hi Leon - welcome to the forums.

L168750 was completed in Adelaide on 5/2/71 and sold by Atwood Motors P/L, Stirling St Perth during June '71. The original engine number was 2600S29806. Expanding on what yel327 has said above, the L stands for the Adelaide Holden plant and the 168750 denotes that the car in question is the 168750th vehicle manufactured by that plant. If you are interested in establishing whether the Chassis Number and Body Number of your car 'belongs' to that VIN/PSN - either post them here or PM me personally.

Cheers

L doesn’t just mean Elizabeth (Adelaide) Bazza. It also is used by Woodville and Mosman Park. There was a lot of completed bodies out of the Elizabeth plant too that didn’t get a PSN and hence a VIN. This sequence started from memory around 9/67 when the first HK bodies were built, but there were also a lot more vehicles from the plant prior to then in different sequences.

Okay true - but in this context it means generic Adelaide. .
