Is there further information available on the 11/73 LJ Torana? Such as the colour, the model, where it was sold, etc?

 

We're trying to piece together the history of our GTR Torana.

Unfortunately it isn't easy to identify a VIN number from a chassis number.

Is this definitely an XU1? There are a few candidates in that H2489xx region it could be.

Hello everyone

 

Great forum with a lot of great information. 

I'd like to introduce myself my name is Dan,

I have a LJ GTR , 07/72 Brisbane build Torana in Chateau Mauve.

Chassis no ALJ09313B , Body no 09345B,  Vin no missing.

I have owned the Torana for 9 years ,the car was white when i purchased it and i did a full nut and bolt resto on the car 4 years ago to bring it back to its original colour and specs .

I'd like to thank some great people in the Torana community on helping me to restore the car, whether it was parts or great knowledge. A huge thank you.

The car was first registered in NSW as a STP car, the last registration i was able to find is [ RGT231 ] 1990s.

Any help on identifying the car would be greatly appreciated.

Do a NSW FOI request on the car and see if it has an engine number listed. Then you might have a chance.

Just recently did a NSW POLICE FOI Search on my VP BT1 commodore.it revealed it served the great people of NSW As a fully mark highway patrol car.it served at tamworth call sign TAM 204 Travelled 41,000 ks in 7 months before being retired from service.I reckon if you use your chassis/body number,colour,and month/year build they may reveal your vin/engine number what station it was at and time served .Go to NSW POLICE WEB PAGE look for there FOI Section.They will charge you $30 for search.and ask for full fkeet records.⁹ You have the best colour in the LJ Range,same colour as mine
