Its an XU-1 vin number.., and is on my spread sheet as a XU-1, is the car alive???
would like to know so i can update my records

Thanks very much for confirming my thoughts on the car. And yes the car is still alive its a bit battered due to some modifications but its able to be saved which i will be doing. Only problem is i need a jp block and m21 gearbox as the engine was blown up and the gearbox was loaned out and never returned so if there is anyone out there with one i need one.

Excellent the more info i can gain about this car the better, umm is it possible to get a copy of the info you have that verified my car just for my records?

Hi Tim

Welcome to the forum.

The VIN comes up as a GTR completed in Brisbane on 13/4/72 and sold by Jack Dodd's Motors P/L of Kempsey NSW during May 72. The original engine number was JL132201. The Body Tag info that you have provided indicates "The Lone O'Ranger" body colour with black vinyl trim.

Nothing meaningful can be established from the Chassis Number except to say that it is an LC Torana completed in Adelaide or Perth around Feb '71.

The VIN tag is the most important item to ID a particular car. If there is no VIN tag then the reverse side of the ADR tag may reveal part of the important VIN.

The Body ID tag will point to the car model. Does the car have one?

What features does the car have that leads to the possibility of an XU-1?

Can I ask, didn't know which thread would be appropriate but it is related to checking the tags...When I had a look at a 2 door LC on the weekend, I saw all 3 tags there but didn't know what to check on it to verify it was legit...Is it necersary on a 2 door that isnt a GTR or XU1? If it is could someone please explain which tags to compare and how you know if they are ok...If there is a link / other thread explaining with maybe a pic of 3 tags and what you compare that would be much appreciated...Thankyou very much!

The tag with LC82911, 2899-A and Trim 40V is from either a GTR or XU-1 built in Adelaide around Feb-71. The Chassis Number LC24989A is also from this period. Is there anything scribed onto the back of the tag that has 2-71 and LC24989A?

I have no idea what 2345A710A1520 is. The tag that is most important is long and thin and has 13 characters commencing with 82911. Does he have this tag? Does he have the original engine number?

Some pictures of the tags would help.

That VIN relates to a GTR completed in Adelaide on 26/2/71 and sold by Southern Motors of Flemington Rd North Melbourne Vic during 5/71. Its original engine number was 2600S29916.

The Chassis Number and Body Number previously provided are both consistent with the completion date of 2/71.

Do you have the colour code from the Body ID tag?
