It's always been this way, the difference these days is you're more aware of it as people post on social media doing a better job than the cops ever could.

I recall in the 80's; Monaros, Toranas and Commodores were on the top of the list of stolen cars and insurance companies charged you accordingly. To insure my V8 SL/R, they wanted to charge me over 10% of its worth per year, of course I could only afford TPPD insurance at the time, my age also factored into their rate.

They say that society has advanced and that we have come a long way in 200 years, huh at least they used to hang horse thieves. I don't know how thieves can be described. I so hope that you get it back and the piss weak thief gets cancer or some kind of motor neuron disease.

Regards

lol, the alert is also doing the facebook rounds (where I got the news from) and so many are saying to cut the thieves hands off. Don't they do that in primitive societies? lol. I do share the sentiment.

I have asked but the guy though he hasn't replied to anyone nor been on facebook after he posted it. From the comments I believe it's a W.A. car but it could be anywhere by now.

I'm pretty sure I've got pictures of that car in an old Performance Street Car magazine.

Same colour, wheels tailights and scoop, looks like it's been in a shed for 30 years.

That's an old-school mod on a HQ, and in this case a very important one as it makes this particular Munro stand out like the dog's proverbials from behind.

Currently Cairns is at 52 cars stolen this month and 602 cars stolen this year. Not bad for a town with 130,000 people.

https://mypolice.qld...en-stolen-cars/

The Mrs friends V8 Commodore got stolen this morning. I actually happened to see a pic of it on FB crashed outside someones house, someone took a pic and posted it on FB.

Its not if your car will be stolen, its when.

Is it just joyriders, or is there a rebirthing racket up there? And how do they get past the modern security systems?

Its 10-15 year old kids. Breaking into houses. Sneaking into your bedroom whilst you sleep and taking the keys and phone off your bedside table. Stealing your car. Thrash it for a few hours. Then stop at the next suburb. Break into another house. Dump the first stolen car outside and then take the next one and so on and so on.

They get caught by the cops. They go to court and the next night they are out stealing cars again.

Its not the cops fault. Its the legal system.

I wish more of the kids ended up in accidents like the picture you posted above.

Same thing happened to my brother and sister in law - in Taree

(put 2 and 2 together for that one in the profiling basket)

Climbed up 3 floors through their bedroom balcony door - took keys, wallet, purse, phones etc from bedside beside them while they slept.

Car recovered next day outside area where police went straight to expecting to find it there...

Full of beer bottles, ciggies and no petrol left.

Rarely I would say  'Lucky they were JUST thieves'   ......
