So while I was keeping an eye out for the other half of the Torana I intend to build, I had my arm twisted (not) into grabbing this old girl for a matt black rat rod resto - just as a clubbie for now....

S pack has a good eye.
It is a 1938 Dodge
Interior needs replacing - but all springs and hardware are Ok, with very little missing.
needs brakes - but handbrake works and it drove off the tow truck up into my garage....
Pretty happy about it all for a spur-of-the-moment purchase.

There is a pretty comprehensive parts catalogue out there for it.
There are many common parts across the different brands - as they were almost identical cars in many ways with lots of interchangeable parts.
How can the Yanks delivery system be so exorbitant? Shame it wasn't made in China - I could get most stuff posted with free delivery then :-)

THats frOcking mint.
Dont change a thing, dont even paint it I like the half primer half rust thing its got going on.
The motorbike mirror grafted onto the guard at some stage in its life is frOcking mint, do not remove that.
Dead set I would fix the brakes, get the interior sittable, and cruise the frOck out of it.
Congrats on your purchase mate and well done.

Thanks Bomber
I have been trying to convince the co-owner of pretty much that - or even rubbing back some primer and promoting some more rust first - then using PPC Patina Clear over the lot.
Pretty sure the mirror is original. I have seen similar bolted to all sorts of places on other cars like this or from the same era. Regardless, it has been there for 40 years getting more useless than it already was, and so there it stays.
Unfortunately, there are a few things to tidy up and get sorted before cruising, but I am optimistic that we will get to it soon....
A faux leather lounge sacrificed itself tonight so some interior pieces can come back to life temporarily (before finances stretch to real cowskin)

Awesome.
Where is this parts catalogue you speak of?
I've got one similar
Not a physical paper catalogue, but numerous different places on the internet that list interchangeable parts between various models like Desoto/Dodge/etc as they were often platform based with some similar bodies - but different 'coachbuilders'
America has quite a large fan-base for these cars, and their is still a lot of info. You do have to dig a bit............
Magnificent. Happy cruising!
and its an Adelaide built car as well!
