Hi all. I'm getting close but still have these niggling things that stop getting it completed. Had a further issue with the gauge cluster when it got damaged on return from being fixed last. So after another trip to NSW it came back and speedo wouldn't work. Should have double checked it all before I put the dash back together.  Identified the issue is bad connection in the wiring from gauge to sender and/or plug at sender end.  Annoying as the speedo was working previously. Rerun the wiring and now works. Dash, carpet etc all back together and went over everything before I book it in for RWC. Once I realised I needed the wiper washer to work for RWC I filled it with water and you guessed it.  The one way valve is too strong for the pump to push the water through. Went to Rares to get another one (one I had is new but been sitting around for a while). Well the new one is that strong Linda Lovelace would have trouble drawing fluid through it. Bought a straight hose connector and that is going to replace it. Thanks for allowing me to vent. Cheers Ron

And it doesn't stop. Deleted the valve and run straight through and only a trickle of water. Checked underneath and a seal on the pump is now leaking. I suspect pressure due to the valve has caused this. Bearing in mind, in my wisdom I hid the pump in the guard and run the hosing through it. Lucky I have another pump and just checked it and all ok. Slightly different connections so have to cut another piece of hose a fraction longer so it meets snugly. Back to the garage. Cheers Ron

Keep at it Ron, The hatch looks amazing and you'll work through all the niggly issues.

Its always the small things at the end that cause the most issues. My gearbox only went back in a day before the road worthy was booked and my fuel gauge still doesn't work.

Easiest thing to do is make a list, check everything over and work through the items one at a time.

Thanks Steve. Problem was I'd finished the list and a few things decided to stop working. Not surprising but annoying. I've been keeping an eye on you and your dad's progress. Going well. Cheers Ron

Well to put a brighter note on things

Have been putting a 4 door together for nigh on 14 odd years now and can say after rego round a year ago, and finalising a few glitchy things

I put it on a dyno last weekend and bugger me -- i'm finished !!

Pretty well all i need to do is find a windscreen wiper knob which the dog chewed on years ago

and blank the choke hole in the dash with something.

Don't give up and don't give up hope in finishing.

Have a hatch now in the shed that has come back from panel and paint

no doubt i will be revisiting this thread in the future

Great thread and keep at it fella's

Well some people never learn lol. Bought a 67 camaro convertible a while ago and needs a lot of work. I've been trying to gather some parts along the way and learning a lot about steering and clearances.  It has a manual box and converting it to power. Finding a box, pitman arm and headers that all work together with a vortec headed 350 sbc is a nightmare. Seems 67 camaro came out with 4 different pitman arms 2 x manual and 2 X power. Saginaw boxes is now taken over by Borgeson. Some headers suppliers have now discontinued parts to suit. Best option for header I have found is Sanderson and you tell them the parameters and they "pre-dimple" the headers to suit. Don't like that idea but don't think I have a choice unless I get them custom made. Whilst everyone says it's great having a US car because you can get any part you need, try getting them into the country and paying virtually double the price given conversion rates. Anyway got that off my chest now I will crawl back to the shed.  Cheers Ron

Right hand drive?  Datsun 260C power steering box does the trick in shoebox Chevs.

That's the problem with US stuff. Parts are so cheap and available it isn't funny. But the cost to get stuff here is terrible. I'm looking for a few LTR450 and LTZ400 parts at the moment, cheap as in the USA but a $50 US part becomes $AU400 real quick! Especialy if they are heavy or large.

Hi Guys. I bought a corvette earlier this year and have been using a mob called STACKERY to ship parts to me. They will hold things and combine things to keep shipping down. Not sure what there limits are on weight and dimensions. Biggest issue I have had is keeping combined things under $1000 US. Then there is issues with Australian Boarder Force.   Dale

Thanks Dale I'll suss them out.  Yeah I am currently having a problem trying to find out how I get a part out of Customs.  I know i need to pay the GST but trying to find out who/how/where is hopeless. I do a bit with the guys at East Coast Mustangs and Camaros in Vic and they can ship stuff for me but I don't like to stretch the friendship. Cheers Ron

When I purchase something I get it sent direct to Stackery and they hold it for up to 40 days at no charge. Then if I buy something else they combine it for freight .

I have purchased through multiple places including EBAY and send to them. Hope this helps. Dale
