It's interesting that you don't paint the gaskets Albert, just because I think of engine enamel as an additional layer of sealant. Having said that, side plates tend not to leak. Tappet cover seems to be the worst. Next time I get a head done I will ask them to machine the gasket surface flat, which a mate has done.

Well done. I normally hate green cars, but Blackwatch is one of the good ones.

Gout sucks doesn't it! I've learnt to recognise it and then take Mobic straight away. but in your hand, that is a curve ball. Also learnt that what brings it on in me is cheap cuts of meat, normally if I have Chinese or Thai with beef in it that is what does it. It is your body struggling to break down long chain amino acids (proteins). So only have prawns now in Thai or Chinese. I also found out in September that my insulin levels were too high so I was pre-diabetic. So being an Engineer I saw a problem, created a plan and implemented it. 3 months later all more than good, also lost 13kg and greatly reduced cholesterol levels. Basically, shopped the supermarket perimeter eating whole foods only, no heavily processed stuff. Given up anything containing added sucrose (sugar, sweets, cakes, ice cream, breakfast cereals), no artificial sweeteners either (Diet drinks), no alcohol and no white bread, white rice or similar high carb foods like chips (dry or cooked). And ever since I started this had no gout at all!

I suffered from gout for a lot of years.

Got it in some weird places at times.

Usually in areas of older injuries, which for me was lots.

Got rid of it more than 10 years ago.

Did take a few years of medication though.

Cheers

Rob

Cheaper beef will do it every time! And processed meat too. I find good cuts of beef seem to be OK, but cheap stuff and watch out!
I got it in my knee once, and wrist once. Normally big toes and ankles.

I went on Allupurinol for years.

First few months was a bugger as it started to dissolve the crystals in the joints.

Got gout in all sorts of weird and wonderful places as it got out of the system.

Kept it up for a number of years, making sure I still had some Voltaren handy.

Got a few twinges then it stopped.

Kept up the Allopurinol for a few years then stopped and havent had it for well over 10 years now.

I could never find a definitive trigger apart from asthma preventers.

Got it a lot when I didnt use preventers but could never nail down a specific trigger.

Could have prawns one day and be stuffed for a few days, other days could eat prawns expecting a reaction but would never come.

Mate used to be triggered by pork but not ham. Could never work that one out.

Had days where a shadow passing over my foot would be a world of pain.

Cheers

Rob

Engine bay end? I can do that after lunch tomorrow when everyone is napping in a food coma. Mines on the floor next to the car.  Yours look stunning too.
