The X stands for cloth insert. There is no way of knowing which cloth type was used though.

What cloth options were there, was it just the herringbone and the one with the red "sargent" stripe down the middle?

I have only ever seen Herringbone and Houndstooth as inserts in LH. There could have been other variants but have never seen them.

When a car had cloth inserts like heringbone, were these inserts carried on to the door cards? Or was the cloth only on the seats?

My LH SLR 5000 has just plain black cloth on chamios vinyl trim. I also have another LH SLR 5000 that is the Herringbone cloth inserts with black vinyl trim.

I believe there was such a thing as a "Fashion Pack"

I would like to see a pic of that as well. I have some material that I think is pretty close to heringbone, but i would like to see a photo to make sure. I am not sure if the stuff I have is herringbone or houndstooth which I think were both used.

They are very different. The herringbone looks like rows of tiny sargent stripes running down the length of the seat. The houndstooth looks like the David Jones Logo. See there website top RH corner if you dont have them in NZ. www.davidjones.com.au

I have pics at home if you need them.
