Hi

Thanks for all the help guys.We are going with the performer as it has a hole for the crossover so it makes sense now that the air has somewhere to go and not just blocked off with the manifold.

The previous manifold was checked and decked by a engine reconditioner. Just cant work out why the exhaust was making into the bolt holes.Well new manifold,gaskets and bolts and onwards and upwards.

Probably because it was pressurized, air will take the simplest path they say. Let us know how you go with it please.

Update

Its the small things you miss. Comparing the new manifold to the old one you can see the face is a few mm lower around the bolt hole which would allow air through. This explains the leak. May have had corrosion removed at some stage??

This goes some way to explaining why the manifold bolts have been loosening and would allow water under the gasket
