Morning to All my GMH-Torana Friends,

My Missus,

Has been having trouble with her car not starting. After a few checks I decided to remove the starter motor. I didn't youtube this time as I have removed a few starter motors in my past.

Told the missus to start cooking the pasta while I whip the starter motor out.

Well lets just say, I didn't make it to the first sitting or second and my pasta sat glad wrapped while I lay under her car in dis-belief.

Please tell me it isn't so.

Do I have to remove the exhaust header to get the starter motor out ?.

Please tell me it isn't so.

Please tell me it isn't so.

Please tell me it isn't so.

Thanks in advance to all that told me it isn't so.

Rainman

This vid is for a 2007 VE V6. You didn't say if yours is a V6 or V8.

Hey Guys, Thanks for your reply. Thanks Dave, had a look at this one last night. In this you cant even see the exhaust ??. I cant even see the starter from the top. The starter motor is even hard to see from under the car. Its a 2011 series 2 V6. The starter is unbolted but there is no room and jams just trying to move it. Have moved the oil dipstick but its not looking good. Thanks you all for your advice.

Cheers Bat, Thanks for the advice. So we registered the spare car :). Have three months to get the job done. exhausted thinking about it. Nothing like the old steel cars.

Hey Guy's, hope all your restos are moving forward :). So I tried a few things and only proceeded to increase the muscles in my neck and arms. Instead of coming down past the engine mount that wouldn't come off, I moved the starter motor along the inner fender and removed it close to the cat convert. Had a little tie down strap around the cat for the extra 2mm. Didn't take long to use the same passage for the replacement. But dragged forever after that. I hated every part under that car. There is no room for any limb and once you put your hand in you cant see what your doing. We purchased this car two years ago and not long after it was a bit harder to start when driven for a while (like a flat battery slow to turn over). There is no longer a starting issue :). My mental issue has grow at a rapid rate. Cheers for the advice
