Yep! Done! Thank you gentlemen! :spoton: That wasn't the only problem though, and this was probably the most significant????………………………..Bad earth at the switch panel!!!! Dammit!!!...……………..Made it hard to diagnose...………...But why would anyone swap the wires in the plug?

Last time I was there we "patched" the loom using the loom from the UC. The only thing that happened was it parked. :fool:

We set up a "test bench" and tested all the wiper motors and switches first thing to work out what was good and what was bad.

More pics for future reference......

It was a Adelaide and Brisbane thing, Adelaide used the Lucas why Brisbane used the other.

Cheers gong

I did have a look around when this problem first arose but I couldn't find much. I do remember there being a thread though. You changed your user name somewhere along the line to I think?

Your wiring plug is configured correctly Paul. Just plug & play.

This pic of R-O-B's LJ wiper wiring connector is also correct.

You may need to insert a draw wire or similar device up the pillar first and tape the wires to that to pull them up.

When you put a new globe in the interior light I saw recently that in that type of globe you can get them in LED's in different combinations of of little light diodes so potentially you can make it bright enough to actually see something.

I was wondering recently about the switches for our wiper motors and the lack of speed that the wipers move at. Is this due to the wear and tear of any components or is this how they always were. If the switch lets you choose from slow or slower then would a different switch supply the wiper motor with more power so that it'd operate at respectable speeds. The switch is basically a two stage potentiometer I assume???

No the switch isn't a potentiometer, it's just a switch that selects which brushes in the motor will run the armature at different speeds, based on the position of the brushes.

The motor needs rebuilding to get it's speed back to where it used to be.

Armature machined and linished, brushes checked and replaced, the magnets re-magnetized, the gears and bushes cleaned of old grease, bearings etc cleaned and polished for smoother movement, and final assembly with the right tolerances adjusted.

Power is 12.5v, 13.8v, or 14.2v and that can't be increased by a grounding switch.

Rebuild.

Good info mate.

Have a slow set of wipers here.

Always been ""gunna"" address this, but understand getting the motor out/ disconnecting the linkages is a drama?

Don't know about that, but I've rebuilt countless wiper motors.
