Is my switch gone or is something weird happening?
All the wiring is factory not dodgy bits n pieces

Try the headlight relay. I had to pull mine apart and clean it out with electrical cleaner.

Could be as simple as a connector on wrong.
Could be fused contacts in the switch.
1st step would be to remove the connector from the headlight switch.
Has it just started to happen, or has the car been sitting for a while, or had things pulled apart?
Brief history always helps when diagnosing problems.

Car has been sitting idle for 6 years, dash was all connected in this time.
The engine and front loom and boot loom were disconnected, but dash was all together.
Car has been stored in dusty workshop which doesnt help.
Il try another switch tonight and report back, thank you

Been a while since I played around under a dash.
But if my memory serves me, the light switch connector can be put on wrong.
And it will cause the lights to stay on.
Make sure the connector is on correctly before going on to anything else.
The switches are very robust, and fused contacts would be a rarity, given that they have an internal overload.
Contacts not closing properly due to grime would be more likely, which is the opposite to your problem.

It was working before, I never unplugged it, but just out of curiosity I just unplugged it on my lunch break and with no switch connected my lights still stay on, something is powering them

May be possible? There were LH hatch backs so any thing is possible at the end of model?LH dosnt have a relay.
Symptoms suggest stuck relay. Maybe the wiring has been altered for higher wattage lamps?

Could also be a plug on the fuse box in the wrong spot.
Check that as well.
Particularly the main power feed plug that goes on the middle of the fuse box.

Disconnected plug on back on fuse panel (green & orange wire) lights off now.
Not sure if the plug is on correct spade as the writing on fuse panel is pretty faint, any ideas off these pics ?

I bet your horn dosnt work with that plug disconnected?
Has anyone been in there fiddling around? When you disconnected the dipper switch, and the lights stayed on (which should be impossible) Did you then plug the dipper switch back in before you disconnected the stop/tail/horn wire from the fuse panel?

I did pull the column out to rebuild and put new covers on etc. but I haven’t modified any wiring. If it was modified it was done years ago when all was working last.
Do u have a pic of which spade that plug should be on fuse panel?
Thank you

I unplugged engine harness plug near booster-wiper motor and lights go off? Is this normal as the main power feed to fuse box or is this indicating something’s wired wrong?
