I hate Holden...

a: I go to take the mirrors off, so I can see what I need to do to fit my GTS mirrors - Have to get behind the doortrim to stop the nut from spinning.
b: Fair enough, I'll just take the doortrim off, I wanted to anyway - No can do, gotta take the window winder and door handles off first.
c: No wukka's, all I've gotta do is undo those little C clips and she's all good. Of course that doesn't want to do it either.
d: Ahh, f*ck it, I'll just take the whole bloody door off - And do you think that the bottom pin wants to come out?

Why couldn't they have bolted the doors on like every other car that they've made? Bloody idiots...

Made a little bit of progress today.

Worked out that the boot that was on the car was bent/twisted... Started stripping a spare, straight one.
Pulled the front and rear windscreens out - not an easy job solo, and I only managed to put 2 little tears in the headlining at the back!

EDIT: Found a couple of tiny spots of rust inder the windscreens. Nothing to get scared about, only surface rust, but I'm glad I found it now...

Cheers mate. Unfortunately all I can really do now is buy parts until mid-November when I finish school and get stuck into the car :D I want it back on the road before Summer... Got about 3 weeks worth of time between now and December to do it. Is it doable? I think I've got a shot...

Did you manage to get both screens out without breaking them at all?

When is the next time you will be heading home for a weekend of fun on the car?

Yup, both screens out without damage :spoton:

I'll be back for 4 days at the start of September. Should be able to get a bit done. Might even borrow a MIG and do some welding...

Well I went home this weekend aswell. Just for something different. Didn't get much done, cleaned up around the rear windscreen. Some pretty interesting previous repairs happening there... a couple of little rust spots and an arseload of bog that doesn't need to be there. Will sandblast it and see what I'm really dealing with.

Aye. It's not that I don't expect it. And I'd rather find it now, while the car is still in pieces, than find it 6 months after I paint it...

Ah the joy's of finding a small spot here and there and knowing all too well what lies beneath. Ya never know you may get lucky and it's not that bad underneath.
It's only time, and if you have the patients not to take short cuts it's well worth doing right while it's in pieces.

Well it was all sealed with bog, so I assume that underneath will be alright. And I'm not unpicking anything else, but I'll spray a heap of fish oil in the hole just in case.

Tim, bog hides many things, including bodgy ass repairs like some of the ones I found in my first car. All the panels were straight, small couple of holes here and there, grinded them back with a wire wheel, i found rust holes the size of my fist, and panels which you would never of guessed had rust in them. So you never know whats behind that bog...

Mitch, I will know exactly what is behind all of the bog in my car before I repaint it :spoton:

Matt, if you don't have a Torana on the road by Summer, there'll be a seat in mine with your name on it :spoton:
