I've assessed the situation and I reckon I'll join the guards with the sills. The drivers side join needs a bit of work (Hammertime ) but it should come up sweet

I think you should weld them together, will be a much cleaner look. I'm not that well versed with the LC/LJ's, can you get it from the inside as well? Just be careful you don't blow a hole through when welding.
I had a small 2mm hole last nigth on the floor pan that turned into a 5c piece hole grrrrrrr.

The guard bit took a fair bit of bending and beating though
You can get to it from the inside, not very easily though. Blowing holes in your steel is no fun... Trust me, I know

Had a few mates around on the weekend to give me a hanf with some body work. We gave up after not long. Happens that one of said mates is a qualified painter and apprentice panel beater, he's bringing his tools around next weekend so we can actually do something. Pneumatic sanders etc
I also pulled apart and M20, after I get some new synchros we will rebuild that and slot it in. The plan now is to get it straight, painted and M20'd, and drive the thing. Worry about the suspension and brakes etc later.
But basically just getting a bit done on it has upped my motivation something wicked, so I'm actually keen to get into it again
