Yeah, we will probably end up unpicking the whole front ends. I'll get some close up pics next time im back.

With the LED's, my cousins VR Calais has footwell lights from factory, which are hooked up via the door light switch. It doesn't look too hard to wire up a similar setup, but i dunno.

Cheers RpM.

I agree. Especially just a mild streeter LJ. There's plenty of showcars, and a heap of racecars, and a few resto'd stockers. But not many mildly modded ones.

Alrighty! I now have a HQ Premier :D

Here she is. It's a bit rough on the outside, but the interior is in good nick, and the 202 was replaced not long ago.

Posted Image

There she is. "Max" is the name.

Its a 202 with a 350 Holley (would you like a less economical engine, sir?), mated to a Traumatic. Has HJ Premier front seats. Thats about it really...

:D I've started to get into some panel swapping on my LJ. Have stripped the paint out of the little channels along the guards (where the welds are) and found that the panels on the good one have been replaced since new.

 dum dee dum, wait for the paint stripper to act, dum dee doo daa day.

What? Has it already got that? Or are you putting that in? I thought you hated autos.

And why on earth would you want a 350 Holley? At least whack a blue block with a high comp head in, paint it red, bolt a Varijet on there and stick a snorkel on so it looks factory.

I hate Autos about as much as I hate Gangsta's.

It's already got a 350 Holley and Trimatic, and that's how it is staying.

Like makka said. But I'm not the one that's gunna drive it, thats what the LJ is for...

Mum is going to use the Premier as a car to drive to work, which is about 10k's out of Cowell.

Oh, and we won $15 grand yesterday.

Okay, well you didn't state that very clearly.

I still don't understand why you wouldn't want to make it more economical for like $50 worth of carb & gaskets.

Congratulations. Can I have some?

Well, we got the car for free, so we're already a couple hundred $ up on fuel costs... And if it was really that bad to drive, we'd just bolt a stock single barrel on it...

I've finished off most of the spot welds. Now i just need to get the doors off the get behind there.

We've decided that we are going to leave the RH Gaurd on, and just swap the nosecone and LH Gaurd.

As you can see here -

Posted Image

- The gaurd has been re-welded. We are going to cut down this weld, and redo it with the good panels. Any tips for this job would be great.

I've made a rough template for my console. This is pretty close to what it will look like, with the M20 shifter through the bottom section, and a Head Unit in the front vertical section. The 6.5" speakers will be in the sides.

Put the battery out of the LJ in the 253 HZ Today, started it up for the first time in about 2 years. Started 1st go, sounds awesome.

I'll probably put that 253 in an LH/LX when I get one :D It's a nice engine.

w00t! Get a full weekend to work on the LJ this weekend :D

A couple of things I need to ask -

How do I take the door off? I need to do this to get the front guard off.

I'll think of more things as the weekend gets closer.

She's coming along there!! I'm assuming your gonna have the console custom made or something, but at least you've got the good ol cardboard template in place!!

I was bored one afternoon, and there wasnt alot that I could do to the LJ (It was still registered, so I couldnt go stripping off bumpers etc), so I made up a template for the console. It will be made out of 12mm MDF, and trimmed in matching vinyl to the seats.

The console will be built after the M20 is in. Hopefully this summer holidays. And I still need to get a HU for it, which will probably be around April next year.

It's staying the original colour. I was pretty skeptical about it at first, but it's really grown on me.

Engine will be stock until 2008, when I plan to build a Blue 173 for it.

Plans are described on the first page of this thread.

Click the 'WWW' button underneath my post to access my CarDomain page. All plans and progress etc will be on there.
