Last night at the watering hole I was offered an apprenticeship at the local crash shop, starting at the start of next year. Between now and then they want me to do a few days, just so I can get a little bit of experience etc. Instead of paying me for the work I do now, they're going to let me bring the LJ in after hours and get a bit done on it.
None of this is concrete yet, but it's looking good

Yeah right.
Modern day panel repair:
Remove damaged panel.
Put on new panel.
Send to painter.
Painting actually requires SKILL
Cheers.

Making it straight is the hard part, squirting some coloured juice over the top is the easy & fun part.

The kind of thing we do in our shed with a hammer and dolly to repair a panel that is no longer available does not exist in most modern day panel shops.
The majority wont even look at a car over a certain age because the panels are NLA.
At the end of the day its cheaper to buy a new panel then spend four hours straitening it.
Obviously that isnt speaking for every panel shop, there are lots around that still do proper work. If you could get an apprenticeship somewhere like that then you would be laughing.
BTT!!!
Whens it gonna be done Rimjob???

Dunno DJ, I want it done before the All Torana Day later this year. October I think. Hopefully it will be well before then, though. If I can get into the crash shop, it won't take long at all.
