I'm still gonna beat you though... Does that make up for only having a 4 door?

I'm still working at the crash shop, but I can't get the LJ in there... Politics.

Cheers fellas, I'm looking forward to getting into it again.

Politics?

My dads mates a panelbeater/painter and for years all his apprentices have built their cars at work.

Well it wasn't actually part of the 'deal', but it was more or less verbally agreed upon. Yeah, I'm a bit pissed off.

It's not because I'm new, it's because the owner is new...

No doubt some thing to do with Safe Work S.A, Work Cover and Insurance issues. The owner (employer) is trying to protect his own backside.

If Tim takes his car in there after hours, works on his it car and god forsake something happens it would be treated the same a working there on the clock so to speak and can get messy for all involved. It's sad but that's the society we live and work in these days.

It may change with time and your employer may take the risk because he can trust you and your work.

Progress... Managed to get hold of a MIG today and finished welding the front guard to the A pillar. Looks good :D Next step is to clean up all of the bog on the left side of the car.

No pics, it's just a couple of welds.

 I got the 3 speed out yesterday, along with all of the column shift mechanism etc. Also finished putting the M20 back together, we couldn't find the little clip that holds the speedo drive gear in place, so we stole one out of the 3 speed. The thrust bearing is making a bit of noise so we want to put a new one in before we put the M20 in.

Couple of questions:

Does anybody want a column shift setup in good nick? Probably not, but I thought I'd ask.

What colour speedo gear will I need? The one in it is yellow. M20 - 3.36:1 diff, standardish tyre height.

Cheers,

Tim

if you haven't changed the diff ratio then use the one out of the 3 spd,
if you have there is a thread listing them for each diff ratio / wheel size

That's what I both thought and hoped, Ken, cheers. I haven't changed the diff, but I do plan to in the future.

Greg, I'm not throwing the column shift setup out, give us a yell if you need it.
