Lookin good mate....looks pretty straight from the pics.

How's the front looking? Did you get that all sorted or still a work in progress?

Cheers guys.

The front is mostly done, it just needs finishing. The car that I took the guard, nosecone and bonnet off of wasn't exactly the straightest rig in the world either, so the panels need a bit of work.

Tomorrow I'm gunna tackle the boot, bonnet and doors and hopefully get the lot in primer. That'll be all of the 'easy' stuff out of the way, the rest of the car still needs a bit of work before priming.

After that I'll get into the rear left quarter and the rest of the arse of the car, prime that, and finally do the front guards and nosecone.

90% primed by the end of the week, I reckon.

Good luck mate.

Its great to see some progress.

Your project was probably the first one I looked at when I joined the forum so it is a bit special to me and I'm keen to see it finished.

We can't give Heath shit any more, so hurry up and prime the other side

Didn't get the other side painted, but I did do just about everything else :spoton:

Boot needs a little bit of work before I can prime it, and the other side of the car is still a bit off. Should have at least the front left guard and nosecone etc done tomorrow.

I'm still playing around with my spray gun aswell, I'll get it sorted one day

The dash, tops of doors, steering column etc will all be Purple, the crash pad will be cream like the seats. Dark brown carpet. Should look pretty good, I hope.

sounds good, although I would rather go for a black or cream carpet, I have a hatred for brown lol, but cream would be a pain to keep clean hey, and black may not really suit the rest of the interior.

anyway, Im really looking forward to the interior coming back together to see how it looks

I didn't want to go cream because I want to drive this thing and not worry about vacuuming my carpet every week to keep it looking good... I didn't want to go black because there is no other black on the car... I'm not doing blackouts etc. If I was doing the sills black, black carpet would probably suit better.

I reckon it'll look alright. Purple is a prick of a colour to match against more neutral colours, but I think I've done alright. See how it looks when it all comes together!

I've decided to ditch the console idea and just run a pair of speakers in the rear parcel shelf. Head unit under the passenger seat with an iPod plug going through to the glovebox. I've got an idea for the underdash panel with the heater controls etc that I might try if I can find a spare one. I'll probably go with a modern style sports steering wheel and paint the inserts Purr Pull. That'd be about it for the interior. Don't want to go spastic with it, I'm only really concentrating on the panel and paint for the moment. Everything else can happen after the car is back on the road.

Good stuff Tim, should come up well.
I like the interior plans, including the designs you detailed a while back.
As nice as a black interior can look, it's good of you to choose something different.

Woah.

The interior was never going to be black, the original interior was too good to think about changing...

Yeah I realise that, Just making the point that there are a lot of Torries these days with black interiors.
Whilst I like black, it is also nice to see different colours inside the car.

Yeah sorry, that wasn't worded very well. I'm a big fan of lighter interiors, and bringing the colour of the car into the interior. I reckon I should achieve both in the LJ pretty well :spoton:

Great work Tim.

At this rate you'll have it painted and put back together before Christmas. Is that the plan?

Mick.

A change in colour of the panels is always a satisfying moment in thinking your actualy getting some where even if it is only primer.

Progress is looking good

That's the plan, Mick.

Hatchman, after I sprayed the first bit of primer on the roof and rear quarter I stood back and said "Wow, this could actually get back on the road". It was crazy how much a quick coat of primer on a couple of panels changed the car from something that was still way off to something that looked like it might be 'finished' one day.

I didn't get any primer on yesterday, spent most of the day doing the bonnet and front guard properly. Feathering out scratches etc. Looking pretty good now though :spoton:

Tim, are you still looking for a power booster, disc stubs etc ?

Port Lincoln auto wreckers have a complete "kit"on an LC, give Duka a call on 08 86821688 & tell him I told you about it.

Its been sitting for a while, so I'd personally reconditiopn the lot, but if the price is right its worth it.

Craig.
