Cheers boys, I appreciate the kind words.

Chris, it was my little cousin, he died in a motorbike accident on Friday night. The hardest bit for me at the moment is that he and his family lived in Queensland, and we down here in SA only saw them once every few years. They had been planning for the last year or 2 to come down this Christmas, arriving next weekend... The family are still coming down, but it's gunna be a pretty hard few weeks...

Tim

Its always harder when you are stuck a couple thousand kays away.

Certainly puts a dampener on christmas festivities, but atleast it will give you all time to catch up and console each other, at times like this, family is the most important thing.

Good message to everyone though, stay safe over christmas.

I love the smell of bog dust and primer in the afternoon...

2 steps forward, one step back as always, we've had to undo a bit of my previous work to fix it properly. The drivers side of the car is in primer and guidecoated now, getting bloody close to ready for colour. We started on the passengers side this arvo, I've been baremetalling the front and rear quarters, my mate has been finishing my repair on the rear quarter.

Some advice for anyone tackling a project such as mine for the first time; get some professional help. No amount of reading books/forums can compare to even just a couple of hours with someone who actually knows what they are doing.

Pics to come, if the weather stays nice this weekend I will be spending an hour or 3 in the shed.

Tim

Cheers for the comments guys.

One side 90% primed, roof primed, doors primed... Still need a final rub back etc. The front half of the passenger side is bare metal, we need to shrink a bit of the lower front quarter. P/S rear quarter still needs a fair bit of work. Pics of that will come when it looks more like a panel and less like a bog board...

Got my new tyres fitted yesterday, 195/50/15 Sumitomo's. Good news is that the first scratches on the wheels won't be my fault... Not happy.

Haven't touched the thing for a while, lacking motivation/skills and keep getting (to put it bluntly) #@$^%& around by mates who 'want' to help... Got lots of little things on the way; door pins, mirror mounting kit, indicators, etc etc. Got my Autotecnica wheel for my bday. Been spending more money than time on it lately, but that happens.

It'll get there... Got more important stuff to do in my life at the mo', but I should spend more time on the little beast.

Had a good day today. Was planning on getting the LJ up to the beater's, but that didn't happen. Instead, me and a mate finally finished getting the gearbox in and working (on of the selector forks wasn't locating properly...), got the tailshaft back in and sorted the shifter out.

The shifter was out of a ute with a bench seat, so it was tall and had a curve in it to clear the seat. I cut the curve out and welded it back up, ended up a perfect length :spoton: Now I just need to find or build a nice knob for the top...

I also found a blue 202 that I will rebuild to put in it eventually, just something well built with a stupid compression ratio will do me just fine, I reckon.

No pics, nothing too interesting to look at.
