As the title suggests, I sold my LJ. I'd been thinking about getting something bigger as with 4 kids the torrie wasn't a very family friendly choice to go for a cruise. So I started thinking about something bigger to replace it with but I didn't really like the idea of a front bench seat and having one of the kids up the front with just a lap seat belt. So the idea stalled for quite a while, until I found the old Chev square body suburban's. Has a third row seat and all kids can sit in a lap/sash belt. They are not very common here in Oz (the pickups are more common) but I eventually found this one. Its an 89 Suburban, 454 and T400 with a 14 bolt full floating rear end and 2wd. Was a Qld car so had to get it shipped over to my folks place in Perth and I've just driven it back up North. Had a couple of issues on the drive back, water pump started to make a knocking noise (I originally though it was a valve tapping away) and for some reason I lost a massive heap of power a couple hundred kays from home - I developed a strange exhaust leak around the same time so theres a possible exhaust restriction downstream. Needs a few little things sorted for rego, brakes need some attention along with the windscreen wipers and a bit of a clean up underneath, and try to reduce some of the steering free play.
Long term plans are just to neaten it up a bit more, add a 4 speed auto or a gear vendors overdrive, then decent exhaust (its too quiet at the moment), cam, intake and maybe some aftermarket heads and that should be plenty for a cruise rig. I'll most likely look at some bigger rims and wider tyres at some point as well
