Hi all,

I have a 1978 UC sedan that I am restoring and need to replace the rear brake drums.

I am having an incredibly hard time finding a new replacement supplier.

Original spec of car was Engine L16, Trans MC6, Rear Axle GU8, Model UC8UH69

Can anyone help with information on a supplier?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Girlock or PBR brakes ?

PBR's run the same shoe as HR... so might be a slim chance of fitting

228.6mm

GIrlocks run the same shoe as Commodore

230mm

Whats the max oversize marked on the drums... that will determine which one you have

Then you'll need some measurements to try track down something that might fit

Overall height of drum

Centre hole size

Machined face depth

Thanks for your reply.

The pad size is 44mm

Inside diameter is 230mm

Height is 68mm

Centre hole size is 61mm

Machined depth is 50mm

Can't locate the oversize on the drums as badly corroded.

Slowly getting more info on these drums, have had some people saying HD or early Commodore drums.

Thinking I will have to take it in to the local brake guys to see if it can be identified.

Cheers.

If the shoes are 44 wide and the drum is 230 now... they are early ones

230.1mm is 1st oversize so technically you could shoot your drums up to Clutch and Brake in Malaga and have them supply shoes to your drum size

If your really after new ones... get hold of some RDA6780 drums and do a compare

Just for completeness and possibly to help someone in the future. Turns out mine are the same as an EH Holden, go figure!

Code for the RDA drums is RDA6780.

Thanks go to Dattoman for the advice.
