Has anybody installed this combo into an LH or LX? If not what is the best box to maintain good clearance? Don’t mind having to mod the tunnel, I’m hoping the 6L80 fits buts it’s big!

I'm running a 5lt VR engine but also fitted a Tremec T56 magnum box. Didn't touch the tunnel. My tail shaft angle isn't perfect but doesn't have any problems either. They fit the tunnel reasonably well and the stick lines up with the original Holden cut out.

Since you are going auto I would suggest using tuff mounts with mast motorsport sump and that will give you the lowest engine mounting position. Then start bashing the tunnel or remake it to fit. Tuff mounts won't break apart like the other types which aren't encapsulated.

Whats bigger?

The T56 or the 6L80?

Or they about the same?

I don’t have a T56 to compare to but I’m pretty sure the 6L80 is bigger, because it’s huge! Lol

Not sure how much help these will be (if any) but I found a few pictures I'd saved over the years...

T400 vs Powerglide...

From this forum, not sure which are what (I'd guess 4L60 at the back vs 6L-something? I should really re-read the build thread, sorry)...

And some OEM Tremec manual transmissions (I think their "GTO" is our LS1 Commodore)...

Cool stuff.

Ive got the lengths etc without dramas.

Its the relative diameters I am after.

Would be handy to know if I need to modify the tunnel before I do some pretty stuff in the area.

Might just print some stuff out and get he ruler out and get some guesstimations.

But I do know the 4L60 fits in the tunnel of my special project without modification.

Im not saying what the project is.

It always opens the door for uninformed ridicule. ROFLMFAO

All good.

If the 4L60 is bigger than the T56 then those will do me fine.

Looks like I wont need to cut the tunnel.
