Anyone noticed where the padding sits in this area when doing Hoodlining?

Don't remember ever seeing any padding there in my LJ when I had the headling out in '96, so I went and had a feel along that rail and there is no padding.

I'm with Dave, none there on my LJ either.

Only padding was on the C pillar.

Perhaps another Adelaide v Brisbane thing or the padding was dropped in production in '73?

Edit: Actually, it would make sense if the padding became redundant when the energy absorbing sun visors were introduced into production.

Thanks Mike. That's why this site is so invaluable, often the workshop manuals don't show the full extent of what you want ,cheers chaps!

I seem to remember removing a rear parcel shelf cover board and having padding underneath that scored piece which kicks up at the bottom of the rear windscreen, maybe to stop vibration.

That's correct. Perhaps though it's more to lift the back so that it sits just tucked under the rear windscreen rubber with no gap.

Hi James, out of interest, does your LJ have those pads on the roof rail above the visors?

Cheers

Dave.

I'll have to check but I'm 99% sure that it doesn't. I can probably check my friends LC GTR too over the next few days.

My 7/73 Adelaide built LJ doesn't have the padding near the sunvisors. I also checked a 3100X LC XU-1 Brisbane built which doesn't have it either but that car has been rebuilt in the past so it's not a clear indication like my own car is.

The 9/73 LJ Adelaide 4 door untouched one owner original  car I wrecked a few years ago had no padding, nor did my 12/73 Brisbane GTR, but the GTR has been through  a few rebuilds.

I think you could be right Dave,I think LCs had it before the ADR change, the rear roof rail on mine also had two small pads on each side where the rail joins.

I have found out an original unrestored LC CK XU1 with no front roof rail pads either.

Just checked my original roof lining for my 10/70 brisbane built car. You can see the whiter area at the front of the roof lining where the foam was touching confirming in my case it did have the foam as per LC manual

I doubt it was a foam type material. Would have been more like that straw coloured matted hemp type padding material that GMH commonly used back in the day.
