2.5" front to back.
I had to the bulge out the body at the top of the hoop to make it work.
I don't think it would have fitted without that.
You can see some of what was done in the picture.

Regards Mando.

I just ran twin 3 inch pipes in mine over the diff.
Didn't have to touch the floor at all. But I did run it on the outside of the upper arms on an angle back towards the centre of the diff.
I have 20mm between exhaust and floor and close to 3 inches of travel in suspension. I will be making my bump stops so it will never make contact with the exhaust pipes. Just tacked together atm. Just have to run the rest of the rear pipes behind the diff now.
Have a look at my build thread to see more.

Well done,

there's no way I could have done what you have.

Do you have a standard fuel tank ?

Regards Mando.

Mine has had the ear tubs modified along with the tank to allow for the little 295 30 18 tyres that will be fitted when finished.
So the drop tank has been built to suit the car.i do believe it can be done with a std tank.
Instead of running the pipes over the diff centre run them on the outside of the top arms like I have. Look at my build thread and you will see what I mean.

Jeff they look like half of the bracket that goes on the back of the rear seat to lock into the bracket mounted on the rear wheel hump. Cheers Ron

Spot on. They are the "bump stop" brackets for the rear seat striker.

that looks the same as a what you would find on a Torana.

Regards Mando.

Hi Guy's,

do all Torana LX models, and in particular hatch's, have to have a centre seat belt.

Regards Mando.

If it says "SEATING CAP 5" on the compliance plate (which it does) then there must be 5 seating positions, all with seat belts.

It is possible to alter the seating capacity with an engineering report, if you're already going down that road for other mods?

Thanks Andrew.

If I was to go down the engineering road, do you think
they would need me to alter the compliance plate from 5 to 4

Regards Mando.

The compliance plate wouldn't be altered, but the engineering paperwork that you have to carry in the vehicle would mention it & any other modifications.

Rare Spares sell a replica I believe. The spokes are thinner than the original ones, but they look very similar.

I have a RareSpares one and I'm happy with it, but I'm not trying to achieve originality.

Jeff, out of curiosity, why don't you want to include the fifth seatbelt? Cheers Ron

Hi Laurie,

I'll see what Rare Spares have to offer.

Ron,

I got the car back from the upholster and I can't see the lap seat belt on the back seat.

I'm probably jumping the gun because I need to check with the upholsterer before I do anything.

I'm sure I gave him 5 boxes with all the seat belts but one seams to be missing.

I'm over dealing with tradespeople.

Regards Mando.

Hopefully it's there and he/she just forgot to pull it out when fitting the lower seat swab. You may have to remove the lower half again to look?

If they have lost it and not said anything, go back and tear them a new one!

Either way, I'd say it'd be cheaper (and a LOT easier) just to buy another seat belt rather than getting an engineer's report.

Agree with Andrew. I had fitted mine before it went to the trimmer and I had to go hunting to find it after I got it back. From memory I bought my steering wheel from Resto Country as it was a bit cheaper but it was a Rares one. Cheers Ron

Nearly done.

Engine bay and under car complete, nothing to do.

All the fluids are in, and the car started first time once the fuel got to the throttle body.

It runs like crap, but should be all good once it gets to the dyno on the April 21.

The boot carpet installed by dash original is an absolute disaster.

I've ordered a new one from Winners hoping the next one will fit like a glove, fingers crossed.

I'm really happy with the rest of the interior.

I've just got some small things to finish of like the door cards, centre the steering wheel after the wheel alignment

and adjust the glove box lid.

When I took the car out of the garage for the first time, and turned the wheels onto full lock I heard an almighty crunch

to find out the tyres don't clear the front flares.

I'll have to cut out a wedge and have someone fibreglass them up.

I'm having the same problem with my Flares. had the rears re-shaped, as they pulled in at the bottoms and the fronts...I'm not even sure how I'm going to modify them to fit well.
