Sorry, I may have forgotten to tell my tale.
I had my first hatchback stolen at the end of August just after it had been dipped at the paint removalist.
They took the whole shell except for the two doors which were leaning up against the shed when they took it.
I found a new shell in Perth, and it arrived in Adelaide at the end of October.
I'd rate the first car was about 98% with just a couple of spots of rust, but the only thing I didn't like on the car
was that the engine bay had been smoothed over.
I'd rate the new car at 85% but I'm really happy the engine bay hasn't been touched.

Did you keep the tags off of it at least? Does the new one have matching tags? Are you still able to get it road registered?

Hi Mitchyboy,
I still have all three tags from my first car,
and I have all the matching tags from the current car.
Registration should be a no brainer?

Hello Mate,
I just went thru your thread and been admiring your dipped shell, then to read some miserable ahh swipe stole it? Seriously hard to like or trust anyone these days, and tjats a shame. Keep up the great work mate.

Are you in NSW? When I did my research regarding my LH before I brought it, to get it registered in NSW apparently the chassis stamp (near charcoal canister) needs to match the 3 original tags (certain numbers on it anyways id have to re check what the email says that RTA sent me)Hi Mitchyboy,

Hi Jeff,
With the 90L Brown davis drop tank, does it comply with the departure angle rule?

BD give you a certificate of compliance with the tank which should satisfy (most) certifying inspectors.
If your certifying inspector has a negative view of the tanks construction then you need another engineer .

That's for clearing that up Col.
The 90L should pass without any issue, but the 120L will cause anyone grief.

I just wanted to say a thanks to Ricky Bobby, "Harvey" for recommending Jeff at Classic Gauge Restorations.
He was a great help and seems to really knows his stuff.
He went through everything I needed to over haul my LX cluster to suit an LS conversion including sensor adaptors
down to gearbox pickup for the new speedo.

Hi Guy's,
can anyone let me know if there is any way to repair the chassis rails
where the gearbox bracket bolts to the rails?
I don't understand how the rails get dented in that area.
If I was to bog the underside of the rails, would they end up cracking over time
with the gearbox moving around?
Regards Mando.

There are various forms of stress on the chassis rails.
They are part of what makes the car stiff.
It would be highly likely that any bog would crack, unless it was just a trailer queen.
If you are going to try heat and a crowbar, the plate inside the rails for the box mounts might give you some trouble.
Cheers
Rob

Hi Joe,
the exhaust is 2 1/2" right through.
The rear end came from RODTECH in Adelaide and the front end from SOUTHERN CHASSIS WORKS in Melbourne.
I just asked them both I wanted the car to sit a little lower than standard.
I was really happy with the way it sat when the wheels were on it,
even though the tyres were just some I borrowed from a tyre dealer friend.

Hey Jeff,
Can I ask who you got the rear flares from. From your pics they seem to NOT curl up at the rear.
Need to get a set of rears for my project as the ones supplied need massive rework to get them to fit.
Thanks,
Posted 14 July 2020 - 11:59 AM
The whole flare /spoiler kit came from rare spares, but the flares had to be reworked to make them fit properly.
I remember the rear spoiler looked absolutely perfectly, but when I went to trial fit it, it didn't follow the shape of the hatch.
It was so bad that it was cheaper to buy a new one than adapt it to my car.
Rare Spares wouldn't take it back because it was past their return date on the docket, and the firm that made it had gone broke.
I bought a new rear spoiler from someone in Queensland but it still needed some work to make it fit properly.
