Hey Jeff,

Can I ask who you got the rear flares from. From your pics they seem to NOT curl up at the rear.

Need to get a set of rears for my project as the ones supplied need massive rework to get them to fit.

Thanks,

enricks fiberglass in NSW makes very very good stuff (might help)

Hi Joe,

I tried to find the receipt for the new rear spoiler I bought but no luck.

I think it may have been Ernicks.

It's already had some work done to it but still needs more.

Regards Mando.

Grem Warrinton is supposed to be able to produce very good flares.

His moulds are very low in the generation scheme of things, so have less inherent flaws.

The higher the generation, the greater the flaws, particularly closing up the distance at the bottom of the flares.

They become tighter with each progressive generation.

However.

There have been some problems with Grem regarding the time he takes to make them.

He is suffering from MS, and has good weeks and bad weeks.

He has also had some very dissatisfied Torana customers in particular that he seems to have over reacted to.

But when you get the bits, they are apparently the closest fit.

Cheers

Rob

Regards Mando.

No Grem is in QLD I believe, and Ernicks is in Tarren point Sydney and great to deal with. All I can add to this is I purchased a Ernicks kit for my 4 door without the rear spoiler as I used a Rare spares plastic item and the fit from ernicks was absolutely perfect. Pics in a build thread to come soon.

I brought the ernicks kit for my LH.
I have fitted the rear flares, Bob tail and the scoop.
Rear flares fit great no issues at all to make em line up.
Bob tail I had an issue with my lock center not lining up with my boot lock, I had to cut out and adjust it to work.
Scoop fit great.

I was going to post a pic of a cat on a rottisserie but there's kids and vegans to think of. 😁

You will find Grems front flares close in at the bottom so if you put wide tyres on the front they will hit. Plus I have seen his is very very difficult to deal with.

The green car are Gem's front flares. See how the bottom of the flare goes in towards the tyre. The originals never did that and will foul a wide wheel. The originals widened out for clearance. I used repliglass fronts although they needed a bit of work. And I run 10s on the front.fd8e0b561d87f61d2edea960d4332451.jpg82578ec6ac07b661cf9fb8e828d91983.jpg764b9cb8b907f2a12b0473c8cc61c5ae.jpg

I cut heaps out of mine too. Makes a big difference. Make sure you also remove and weld up the inner lip on the firewall if you want bigger profile rims later.

I went to see the car today.

It's been taken back to metal throughout and primed ready for rust repairs.

You get to see things differently when every scrap of paint has been removed.

They cut the floor on both sides so the chassis rails could be straightened.

Regards Mando.

Hi mando, great looking hatch and build, that’s extensive body work that looks like it’s being done very professionally, may I ask where you are having it done? Also is the bonnet skin being removed or replaced or remade? I have a frame with no skin on, it was a crazy idea 15 years ago to make a perspecs skin! Haha crazy 80’s theme that I remember. Cheers.

Hi Brad,

the guy that's working on the car is about half an hour past Gawler.

The bonnet skin was removed because it looked like there was some rust between the frame and skin.

Everything  looked OK, but luckily he peeled off the skin because there was quite a bit of rust

which he grit blasted and then primed before putting the skin back on.

Regards Mando.

Pretty sure I know who you mean, he does great work, if it’s the one.
Great pictures and some great work being done.
Looking forward to watch the progression, cheers

Looking good. Love it all fresh and ready to go.

Remind them about a front bracket for the console.

Nice progress Mando,

Interesting workshop with the Falcon on the book shelf and any idea what is the engine to the left? Is that what a Hemi looks like?

Enjoy, Tom

Thanks Arrimar,

I'll have to sort that out at assembly time.

The standard bracket won't work.

The tunnel has had a bulge installed to take the tremec gearbox.

I'll ask the guy's at the workshop  when I go back in about two weeks Tom.

Happy with the painting today.

Gearbox and bell housing look a grey colour but it looks a nice alloy colour in the flesh.
