Hi Mando,

Sounds like a nice way to spend a Saturday, hope it goes well. Everything looks great, even the stuff in the background and the garage floor.

Who made the front cross member?

Cheers, Tom

Thank's Tom,

the front clip was made by Curl at Southern Chassis Works in Victoria.

He does fantastic work.

Regards Mando.

Looks great, assume you will be fitting a front swaybar, can see the pickup points on the LCA, but no bar?

Everything went in without to much trouble.

I forgot how tight the motor was  in the engine bay.

Between the booster and the firewall there was much room to spare.

Just be careful of exhaust leaks from slip on collectors, stuffs up the readings with the O2 sensors.

Thanks for the tip myss.

I found out it's not the best way of doing things but the exhaust guy

didn't give me any options and I didn't know any better.

I'll try and use the best sealer I can find and see how it goes.

Yep, it's actually the fresh air drawn into the collectors through the joins that's the problem, the oxygen sensors read it as a false lean condition.

Hi Heath,

the shockers are Viking from the states.

The funny thing is I had never heard of them before.

I ordered the front end from Southern Chassis in Melbourne and the rear end from Rodtech in Adelaide.

I new shockers were part of the package from both suppliers , but when they arrived they had the same brand of shocks supplied.

Regards mando.

Can anyone give me some advice regarding the co2 sensors please.

My tuner has told me one sensor is enough to complete the tune where as a guy that has done a

lot of fabrication work for me and has built quite a few fuel injected cars has told me to install two.

I received one sensor with my Holley kit so that's why I'm happy to go with the tuner's advice.

Regards Mando.

G'day Mando,

Assuming you mean oxygen (O2) sensors, not carbon dioxide (CO2) sensors? :P

One is the minimum, two is preferred. A lot of later Commodores had four, but the second pair (behind the cats) was just for pollution control (measuring the efficiency of the cats).

The only difference is that with one sensor in each side the ECU will adjust the AFR of each bank of cylinders separately.

If you only have one sensor then the ECU will blindly adjust the AFR for the entire engine based on the readings from just one bank of cylinders. This is okay, but not ideal.

For a straight 4 6 or 8 that would be fine to an extent.
But being a v8 2 x 4 cylinder engines basically you are best off running 1 for each bank minimum.
Best location for each one is just before the cats and about 6 to 8 inches after the collector.
This way you get a reading of all 4 cylinders on that bank.
In racing applications they will run 1 per cylinder in order to extract every single hp from the engine and balance every cylinder to match as closely as possible to extend the engine life and durability under extreme punishment from the driver.
As stated above in late model cars they run 4 to help monitor emissions after the cats.

I hate it when you guy's give me answers that are not what I want to here.

You guy's cause me more grief than when I had a wife.

Just for once can't you guy's bull$hit to me, and tell me it will all be fine, go ahead and do it your way.

Kindest Regards Mando.
