Wow, that looks fantastic.
Love the colour. I hope my car ends up looking as good as this.
Just for the people that don't know, like me, what bits would you not find on an L34
and what is different on this nose that wouldn't be on an L34?
Regards Mando.

Sorry Brad,
I'm not with you.
The front or back, and what's different?
Regards Mando.

Always nice seeing a fresh paint about to be put back together. Looks like a neat job indeed.

Thanks guy's,
so am I right in thinking that the nose is correct on my 1977 LX hatch?
Regards Mando.

Yes Mando, yours is correct. It was only LH toranas built during the first 7 months that had the indicators mounted lower. (hence the gap between the indicator and front spoiler in later cars) The correct ones are quite rare and hard to find. It is also something that 99% of people don't notice so I wouldn't get hung up on it Jeff. Your's is going to be a rip snorter of a car. But I would shoot that panel beater for trimming your front flares instead of the front spoiler to make them fit together.
I hear and read so many stories of cars being "worked on" at the panel beaters for years at a time. What is it about these pricks that makes them think they can hold a car to ransome for so long??

I had a friend running a panel shop for years.
As with most shops, it is insurance work that pays the bills and wages.
If you want a really good job, they fit it in where they can and spend extra time on it to make it a better job.
That obviously wasnt the case here, those front flares are really bad.
My mate would take 3 months as a minimum for a top class respray, including good rust repairs.
It quite often went out to 6 months if they werent rushed, but a lot of people started pushing him around the 3 month mark.
But years to do a job is really pushing friendships and reality.

He only started working on mine about 3 months ago only after I threatened him.

I would have found someone else Jeff. There are plenty of good panel shops in the south west that could use the work. Are you related to Craig from Collie?

He is the one that lost the HK Monaro in the fire. It was in the spray booth when the fire hit

Your choice or his to not do the blackouts around the rear lights? Is it Saffron or Mandarin. Hard to tell in the pics?

Always good to see and hear of other people's L34s being put back on the road,..having personally owned over dozen genuine L34's myself they hold a place in my heart..But i must say when restoring these car's they must be right when making the effort to paint them and correct them from cosmetics add on's from the past..I'm a stickler for having the correct thickness in the body stripes, correct chrome rubber less bumper bars etc..I totally understand and get the drama's you can have when trying to find the right people to panel beat and paint these car's it can be a mine field..If you need any help kindly PM ME and i'll try and steer you in the right direction as most of the hard work looks to have been done..

Your spot on Rockoz. Insurance work is where the money is at for us at my shop.
We do resto work also, we are doing a friend's LX Hatch at the moment. It always takes a back seat to the quick turn and burn insurance jobs though.
Having said that, no way it will be here for three years!
