I thought that the ADR's changed mid production ?It was a screw up by the design team. The indicators were too low to pass Australian Design Rules.

I've always wondered about this...
The only relevant ADR that I can see is ADR 6, which was introduced 01 Jan 1973 during LJ production (this ADR was responsible for orange-coloured front lenses).
And it wasn't superseded by ADR 6A until 01 July 1981 so there was definitely no ADR change involved.
If you read through Second Edition ADR 6 (available here) it doesn't actually mention any minimum distance from the ground at all, the only thing it goes into is "photometric measurements" to determine "luminous intensity" and as far as I can see these are only taken relative to the axis of the lamp itself.
It's possible that there is a visibility clause in some other ADR but you'd have to read all of them to find it?

The thing I don't understand is, if the height was raised after only seven months into production, how can it be that
"all" of the manufacturers of the spoilers, which there must be at least eight, never adjusted their moulds.
I've always noticed the spoiler never looked quite right in relation to the indicator but never thought the indicator had been raised.
Some of you guy's on here that really know your facts and history.

Just lazy I guess.
Pre Oct 1974 LH SL/R 5000 and G Pack front spoiler. (Also available to be dealer fitted to all models through GMP&A.) They used the same one for the L34s, but had to trim the sides off to fit the flares.

After October the same spoiler is used and indicators are raised.

There were many cases of numptys breaking the front spoiler on kerbs and the like so for the LX SL/R 5000 and SS the depth of the spoiler was made not so great. Only the A9X came from the factory with the LH style deep spoiler.

The indictors on the LH look so much better against the spoiler than the
later LH's and LX's.

I've just finished spraying the deadner in the boot today and masking up to do the interior during the week. received_151329599543319.jpg 82.87K 11 downloads received_637100610201284.jpg 54.33K 11 downloads 20200404_145807.jpg 95.34K 11 downloads 20200331_111124.jpg 157.6K 13 downloads 20200331_111111.jpg 154.32K 13 downloads

That paint certainly "pops". It almost looks luminescent.

Did I miss something? page one had a body with bonnet scoops and flares, now no scoop or flares? Looks good.

Easy enough to change as my car has lowered indicators to fit flares better. Unfortunately I can't post pictures as lost my photobucket account details.
